This book is more concerned with mathematics than with cryptography. It emphasizes the algorithmic aspects along with complete mathematical proofs of the algorithms. The book grew out of lecture notes aimed at first-year students of computer science.

This book is an introduction to the algorithmic aspects of number theory and its applications to cryptography, with special emphasis on the RSA cryptosys-tem.
