Today, many institutions and corporations are involved in various grid researches that involve improvement in concepts, protocols, applications, methods, and tools. To help capture the rapid growth in grid concepts and applications and chart the future direction in this field, a resource compiling current advances in grid computing is essential. The Handbook of Research on Grid Technologies and Utility Computing: Concepts for Managing Large-Scale Applications provides a compendium of terms, definitions, and explanations of concepts, issues, processes, and trends in grid technology. As the first book collection of its kind, this reference features current articles presenting comprehensive coverage of grid technologies valuable to any researcher, practitioner, or academician in grid computing.

Emmanuel Udoh is an assistant professor of computer science at the IndianaPurdue University, Fort Wayne. He is currently serving as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Grid and High Performance Computing and also of the Encyclopedia of Grid Computing Technologies and Applications. In addition to being interested in grid computing, Dr. Udoh has been active in database research. Dr. Udoh has published a book and over 25 articles in journals and conference proceedings. He served as the organizing and session chairs of the IASTED International Conference on Software Engineering/Applications and International Conference on Information Technology. Dr. Udoh has been listed in American Marquis Whos Who in the World 1993-1994. Frank Wang is the director of Centre for Grid Computing, Cambridge-Cranfield High Performance Computing Facility (CCHPCF), Cranfield University. He is Chair in e-Science and Grid Computing. Prof. Wang is on the editorial board of IEEE Distributed Systems Online, International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing, International Journal of High Performance Computing and Networking, and International Journal on Multiagent and Grid Systems. He is on the High End Computing Panel for the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Prof. Wang is the Chair (UK & Republic of Ireland Chapter) of the IEEE Computer Society.
