The fierce and heartbreaking novel about love and prejudice from the prize-winning international literary sensation The Queens of Sarmiento Park
Wildly successful and famously spiky, the actress is adored by her fans and loved by her lawyer husband, although they share an intense and complicated relationship. But as a trans woman she is traumatised by her painful childhood and she longs for a love that feels real, for someone to care for and a family she can feel at home in. She and her husband adopt a little boy and her desire to protect him is powerful and healing. But he is HIV positive, and when they return to the setting of her childhood and the family she grew up with, she is confronted with the brutal force of the prejudice she has tried so hard to escape from.

Vivid, raw and passionate, crackling with caustic humour, Scenes from a Domestication explores sex, class and the corrupting nature of wealth and privilege, the longing for home and family - and the unquenchable desire for love.

Camila Sosa Villada was born in 1982 in La Falda (Córdoba, Argentina). She is a writer, actress, and singer, and previously earned a living as a sex worker, street vendor and maid. She holds degrees in communication and theater from the National University of Córdoba. Her play Carnes tolendas, retrato escénico de un travesti was selected for the 2010 National Theater Festival held in La Plata. Her first novel, The Queens of Sarmiento Park, won the Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and the Grand Prix de l'Héroïne Madame Figaro and has been translated into more than twenty languages.
