Chapter79: Untouchable

***Untouchable***

Daniel's car screeched to a stop outside Robert's mansion. Tires smoking. Engine roaring.

He got out. Slammed the door. Marched toward the gate.

Two security guards stepped forward. Blocking. Professional. Alert.

"I need to see Robert Langley." Daniel's voice came out hard. Demanding.

"Do you have an appointment, sir?" The first guard asked. Polite but firm.

"I don't need an appointment." Daniel moved closer. "Open the gate."

"I'm sorry, sir. Mr. Langley doesn't see visitors without..."

"I said open the gate!" Daniel's voice exploded. "Now!"

"Sir, please calm down." The second guard stepped forward. Hand on his radio. "Or we'll have to ask you to leave."

"I'm not leaving!" Daniel grabbed the gate. Shook it. "Robert! Get out here! Face me like a man!"

"Sir, step back from the gate." The first guard's voice turned hard. Warning.

"No!" Daniel kept shaking. Rattling. "Robert! I know you're in there! Come out! You coward!"

The guards moved toward him. Reached for him.

Daniel shoved one. Hard. The guard stumbled back.

"Don't touch me!" Daniel's face twisted. Wild. "I'm going in there whether you like it or not!"

He lunged for the gate control panel. The second guard grabbed him. Pulled him back.

"Sir, you need to leave. Now."

"Get off me!" Daniel swung. His fist connected with the guard's jaw. The man fell.

The first guard grabbed his radio. "We have a situation at the front gate. Need backup."

Daniel kicked the gate. Over and over. "Robert! Get out here! Face what you did!"

More guards appeared. Running from the house. Four. Five. Six.

They surrounded Daniel. Hands up. Ready.

"Sir, you're trespassing. Leave now or we call the police."

"Call them!" Daniel's laugh came out harsh. Unhinged. "I don't care! I need to see Robert! I need to..."

The gate opened. Slowly. Deliberately.

Robert stood there. Behind the guards. Arms crossed. Face calm. Cold.

"Let him in." His voice carried. Certain. Final.

"Sir?" One guard looked back. Confused.

"I said let him in." Robert's eyes stayed on Daniel. "He clearly needs to talk. So let's talk."

The guards hesitated. Then stepped aside.

Daniel marched through. Straight toward Robert. Fists clenched. Breathing hard.

"You." He pointed. Shaking. "You destroyed my family."

"I did nothing." Robert's voice stayed level. "Your family was already destroyed. I just gave your wife what you couldn't."

"You seduced her!" Daniel moved closer. Into Robert's space. "You took advantage of her! To get revenge on me!"

"Revenge?" Robert laughed. Cold. Harsh. "You think this is about you?"

"Of course it is!" Daniel's voice rose. "You slept with my wife to hurt me! Because of Natalie! Because I had an affair with your wife!"

"My soon to be ex wife." Robert corrected. Voice calm. Controlled. "Who I don't care about. Who means nothing to me."

"Then why Emma?" Daniel's hands balled into fists. "Why my wife?"

"Because she's incredible." Robert stepped closer. Matching Daniel's aggression. "Because she's talented. Beautiful. Strong. Everything Natalie isn't. Everything you don't deserve."

"She's mine!"

"She's no one's." Robert's eyes blazed. "She's her own person. Who chose me. Wanted me. Came to me willingly."

"Because you manipulated her!"

"I didn't have to manipulate anything." Robert's smile turned cruel. "She was already broken. Already destroyed. Thanks to you. I just reminded her she was worth more."

"Shut up!" Daniel shoved Robert. Hard.

Robert stumbled back. But didn't fall. His guards moved forward. He waved them off.

"Go ahead." Robert straightened. "Hit me. Show Emma what kind of man you really are."

"You don't know anything about me!"

"I know everything about you." Robert's voice turned deadly. "I know you used her family's money. Seventy million dollars. To build your business. Your empire. Your life."

Daniel's face went white. "How do you..."

"Emma told me." Robert moved closer. "She told me everything. Every detail. Every dollar. Every lie you told her."

"She had no right!"

"She had every right!" Robert's voice rose now. Matching Daniel's fury. "To tell the man who actually cares about her! The man who doesn't use her! The man who sees her as more than a bank account!"

"You're using her too!" Daniel's spit flew. "For sex! For revenge! For whatever sick game you're playing!"

"The only game here is yours." Robert stepped into Daniel's space. Close. Threatening. "You're the one who locked her up. Who told the guards not to let her leave. Who's keeping her prisoner in her own home."

Daniel's eyes widened. Shocked. "How..."

"I have eyes everywhere." Robert's smile turned vicious. "Did you really think I wouldn't know? That I wouldn't be watching? Making sure she's safe from you?"

"She's MY wife!"

"She's the woman I love!" Robert's voice exploded. Raw. True. "And you're keeping her trapped! Like property! Like she belongs to you!"

"She does belong to me!"

"No." Robert's hands grabbed Daniel's shirt. Pulled him close. "She belongs to herself. And when she's ready. When she's safe. She'll leave you. And there's nothing you can do to stop it."

Daniel's fist flew. Connected with Robert's jaw. Hard. Brutal.

Robert's head snapped back. Blood appeared. He touched his mouth. Looked at his fingers. Red.

"Big mistake." His voice came out quiet. Dangerous.

He lunged. His fist connected with Daniel's stomach. Daniel doubled over. Gasping.

Another punch. To the face. Daniel fell. Hit the ground. Hard.

"Get up." Robert stood over him. "Get up and fight me properly."

Daniel struggled to his feet. Swung wildly. Robert dodged. Punched again. Ribs this time. Daniel cried out.

They grappled. Fell. Rolled. Punching. Kicking. Fighting like animals.

Blood flew. Bones cracked. Voices screamed.

The guards moved in. Pulled them apart. Four guards on Daniel. Holding him down. Restraining him.

Robert stood. Breathing hard. Blood dripping from his mouth. His knuckles.

"Hold him." He told the guards. Cold. Final.

They obeyed. Forcing Daniel to his knees. Arms twisted behind his back. Unable to move.

Robert walked over. Looked down. His face a mask of rage and control.

"You want to know how it feels?" His voice came quiet. Deadly. "Having your wife in my bed?"

Daniel struggled. The guards held tighter.

"It feels incredible." Robert's smile turned cruel. Vicious. "She's responsive. Passionate. Alive. Everything she could never be with you."

"Shut up!" Daniel's voice broke. Furious. Devastated.

"She calls my name." Robert leaned closer. "Over and over. Begging for more. Giving herself completely. To me. Not you. Never you again."

"I'll kill you!" Daniel lunged. The guards yanked him back. Held him down.

Robert's fist flew. Connected with Daniel's face. Once. Twice. Three times.

Blood poured. Daniel's head lolled. But the guards kept him upright. Kept him conscious.

"That's for Emma." Robert's voice stayed level. "For every tear you made her cry. Every moment you made her feel worthless. Every day you destroyed her."

He hit Daniel again. Harder. Daniel's eye swelled. Closed.

"That's for your kids." Robert's breathing turned ragged. "For breaking them. For making them watch their family die."

Another punch. Daniel's nose cracked. Blood everywhere.

"And that." Robert's voice dropped. Dangerous. "Is for locking her up. For keeping her prisoner. For thinking you own her."

He stepped back. Looked at Daniel. Broken. Bleeding. Destroyed.

"Let him go." Robert told the guards.

They released Daniel. He fell forward. Onto his hands. Coughing. Spitting blood.

"Hear me clearly." Robert's voice carried. Cold. Final. "If you hurt Emma. If you hurt those kids. If you do anything to them. I will destroy you."

Daniel looked up. Face ruined. Eyes blazing. "You can't destroy me."

"Yes I can." Robert's smile turned deadly. "I'm a Langley. Do you understand what that means?"

"You're just another Trillionaire."

"No." Robert stepped closer. "I'm old money. Real money. Real power. My family built this city when yours was nothing. When you were nothing."

He crouched down. Eye level with Daniel. "I have more money than you could ever dream of. More influence. More connections. More power."

"So what?"

"So I'm untouchable." Robert's voice came out certain. True. "And you're not. You're new money. Self made. Which means you can be unmade. Destroyed. Erased."

"You wouldn't dare."

"Try me." Robert stood. "Hurt Emma. Touch those kids. And I'll use every connection I have. Every favor. Every ounce of power. To ruin you. Completely. Utterly. Until there's nothing left but ash."

Daniel struggled to his feet. Swaying. Bleeding. "This isn't over."

"Yes it is." Robert's voice stayed calm. "You just don't know it yet."

"I'll destroy you!" Daniel's voice came out strangled. Desperate. "I'll release the photos! The videos! Ruin your reputation! Your family name! Everything!"

"Go ahead." Robert smiled. Cold. Confident. "Release them. See what happens. The Langleys have survived scandals that would end lesser families. You think an affair will touch us?"

"It'll destroy you!"

"No." Robert moved closer. Final words. Final warning. "It'll destroy Emma. Your children's mother. Their...
