Mindset Mindrise pirouettes through questions about the reach, foibles and sanctity of the human mind at a time when its capacities are being outsourced into AI technologies of increasing sophistication. Katie Griffiths’ second collection invokes different flavours of thinking; tech bros are set alongside the domestic feminine, rational points of view rub against unrestricted imagination and poems flirt with the possibility that we are ceding the territory of the mind.

Katie Griffiths grew up in Ottawa, Canada, in a family originally from Northern Ireland. She is author of The Attitudes (Nine Arches Press), the prize-winning pamphlet My Shrink is Pregnant (Live Canon), and was also published in Primers Volume One (Nine Arches Press). In 2024 she won the Gregory O'Donoghue International Poetry Prize with 'Before I stillbirthed the birch', a poem also chosen for the 50th anniversary edition of the Pushcart Prize Anthology. She was awarded second prize in 2018's National Poetry Competition with 'Do not indulge indigo'. A member of Red Door Poets, Katie is also a singer-songwriter, formerly in the band A Woman in Goggles and at present part of the harmony group Fells and Such. She regularly mentors, leads poetry workshops and, in the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton-on-Thames, currently runs monthly sessions of live poetry readings.
