This book and series will be set in the world of Rigen. It will begin in the Zargon Empire where after nearly 2000 years the prophecy will begin to unfold unleashing pure evil back into the world unchecked endangering the world and everyone who lives there. The release will involve a princess and an evil being called a Melder that will accelerate the spread of evil. It will convert some to evil and will involve conflict and suspense through most of the chapters. Encounters with evil will occur several times and learning what the evil is to be released will involve intensive study. It will culminate in a battle in a village where the balance of good and evil will be decided for the main character to begin learning the truth about his purpose in the world.

Christopher Prekup has always loved writing and has written some short stories throughout his life but never has attempted to publish them in the past. Science fiction and fantasy have always been the genres written about and created over these years. Growing up in Southeastern Ohio, he studied and played hard as he grew into an adult. He attended Muskingum College where he majored in History and Psychology, initially wanting to become a History Professor. Those designs changed and then attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville where he obtained his Master's in Counseling degree. He married and then moved to North Carolina where he has worked as a crisis counselor in a local emergency room for the past 20 years helping those with mental illness and addiction issues find the help they are seeking. This kept him very busy for several years and then divorced in 2017. After some adjustment, he began writing again and completed the work for book one of the Rigen Cycle. The goal is to have many read and enjoy the story before them. He looks forward to building a core of readers and communicating with them for feedback on the story and characters that have been presented.

The story begins with fishermen out near the Azari Islands and while fishing, a storm develops almost magically and a young man falls from the sky in to the rough waters below. He is rescued and brought back to shore for medical attention. A royal Advisor named Galon arrives a few days later and believes the young man could be the one of prophecy sent to confront and defeat evil that is now growing alarmingly. They return to Zargon Castle and are nearly killed in route by nearly invincible 'fire men'. Once there, they have a few days of study before having to leave due to dark magic creating servants in an attempt to kill the young man. They leave with a Melder named Taren who's goal is to bring him back to his village to complete tests to see if he is the one of prophecy that was foretold in their Chronicles. On the way there, they are pursued by evil beings and meet up with friends called omads who escort them but are grieving due to the recent death of their leader and mentor, Fuukon. Back at Zargon Castle, the evil Cyrdn takes control of the princess Arianna known as the unpure woman and begins to prepare her to release Demonlord Nadarzon to conquer the world. The one of prophecy arrives at Melder Village with Taren and Galon only to find another Melder has been converted to evil and is slowly enslaving the entire village. The two battle and the young man prevails ensuring he has the opportunity to take the tests to prove he is the one meant to combat the evil in these new and dangerous times.

Prologue

Two warriors stand just yards apart, staring intently at each other. Both are studying one another for any weakness, finding none. The area is covered in dark clouds, the usual for this desolate area of the world. They stand on the Lachana Plain, only miles from the mountains that bear the same name. Immortal Lord Tosai and Demonlord Nadarzon know their conflict has reached the final battle between them. One will live and the other will die, determining the fate of this world.

Each moves into a fighting stance and prepare to fight. Both move forward at the same time. Their fists collide sending a shockwave a few hundred yards in every direction due to the power of the collision. These continue for the next several minutes as both warriors attempt to hit the body of his opponent. Allies for each warrior have remained at the base of the mountains to keep from being instantly killed by the power and energy being released in this battle.

“You are not powerful enough to destroy me Tosai. You will soon die and then I will destroy and conquer this world.”

“We will see demon. I do not intend to lose.”

The hand to hand combat then continues between them. Tosai finally connects with a right handed punch to Nadarzon’s jaw. The demon reacts swiftly with an elbow to his chest sending Tosai reeling back several steps. He is barely able to block a second elbow and just is able to redirect it from his face and to the left. This turns the Demonlord slightly to the left where Tosai is able to get several punches into the lower back before the evil being is able to scramble out of his reach. Their fists collide again and again for several more minutes before they both alter strategy.

Both warriors then take to the air to have freer movement with their tactics and attacks. Each hopes their ability to fly will give them an advantage during the battle. They move forward quickly and their fists collide with great impact again sending shockwaves in the air around them. They fight in the air for several moments before the Demonlord is able to hit Tosai in the stomach causing him to double over in pain. Using this advantage the Demonlord slams his shoulder into Tosai’s body and then slams him into the ground causing shockwaves for several seconds from the impact. Nadarzon hits him several times in the face and opens up a wound on his forehead. Tosai then catches the fist, rolls the demon over and does the same to him for several seconds. The Demonlord rolls him off and then both break away several feet and stand there breathing heavily. Both now have blood running down their face. The color is black for Nadarzon, red for Tosai.

They take to the air and have collision after collision. The allies watching only see the black and red in the air where they meet but cannot see them due to their speed. Nadarzon then hits Tosai in the chest that makes him cough loudly as he tries to catch his breath. He backs away and the Demonlord takes this chance to get above and punch him back into the ground. Nadarzon then shoots several black energy balls toward him and several connect. Tosai has several wounds, one to his left arm and two on his chest. He grumbles in pain and is clearly angry this has occurred.

“You will soon die Tosai, you cannot defeat me.”

“This isn’t over yet Nadarzon, your evil will end today.”

Tosai then flies back up into the air and powers up and is surrounded by a white glow. The Demonlord does the same and is now glowing grey. Their fighting continues in a stalemate over the next hour. This is the continuation of their skirmishes over the past two days that have led to this final confrontation on the Lachana Plain.

In an instant, Demonlord Nadarzon grabs the right arm of Tosai and is able to swing it around and behind his back into an arm lock. He uses this opportunity to also put his other arm around the Immortal Lord and begin squeezing to crush and kill his enemy. This goes on for several seconds before Tosai is able to use his head and smash it right into the face of Nadarzon that loosens the grip enough for him to break the deadly hold.

He then grabs the arms of the Demonlord and begins swinging him around faster and faster. After several repetitions, he lets go and the evil being is thrown upward into the air. Just as Nadarzon stops, he is shocked to see Tosai above him with his fists ready to fight. As they fall, Tosai keeps hitting Nadarzon with such fury he is unable to stop his descent to the ground where he hits with great force and pain.

As the Demonlord returns to his feet, he looks up and sees Tosai preparing a large blue power ball that is then hurled in his direction. Nadarzon is able to catch and initially hold this blast with his power and strength. The struggle continues for minutes before Tosai is able to force enough power to overtake the Demonlord’s defenses. In the explosion, tons of debris are flown into the air and all that remains is a large crater. The Immortal Lord believes he may have won seeing this due to not detecting a trace of his enemy.

However, the ground begins to rumble and Demonlord Nadarzon slowly emerges bruised and tired. He is alive and now is showing great anger. The ground soon begins to shake telling Tosai he is now powering up to an even greater level and clearly intends to win.

The Immortal Lord is shocked the evil being is this strong and realizes no one alive knows his true power and skill. He knows a lot of his power was used in the last attack and realizes he may not win this fight. Tosai begins powering up to his maximum to try and keep pace with his evil opponent, knowing the fate of the world is in his hands. He then psychically tells the Melders to get ready for battle and prepare the plan as discussed before this one began. They are informed he will continue to fight as long as he can to give them time to get ready. The Melders are told it has been an honor to be their friend and ally for many centuries. Tosai then cuts off the link to continue his losing battle against the Demonlord. He knows his death is coming and will fight until the very end against his evil opponent.

They continue to battle at a near stalemate for nearly another hour with Tosai taking more damaging hits then Nadarzon. The Immortal Lord eventually falters and is overwhelmed by an intense power blast and is incinerated in the air, gone forever. The Demonlord hovers there respectfully and honors his adversary with a moment of silence. He then refocuses to destroy the allies of the Immortal Lord to have no resistance to conquering the world for the Black God.

At this time, the Melders emerge from the base of the Lachana Mountains, ten in all, to challenge the Demonlord to combat. Their leader Tavon steps forward showing he is the one in charge here. Nadarzon laughs after he hears this challenge and does not consider these people a threat to him in any way. Tavon was counting on the Demonlord to be overconfident and knows the evil being is much weaker then when he began his battle with Immortal Lord Tosai two days prior.

The Melders then begin reciting the spell as instructed by their now deceased ally in unison. The Demonlord begins moving forward quickly intent on destroying them with his black pitchfork that is deadly to anyone it is used against. Halfway to them, he suddenly stops and realizes he is unable to move. The Demonlord knows he has stepped into a magical trap and is unable to break free due to his weakened condition, something that would not happen if he was at full strength.

Nadarzon hears in his mind that the five powers of the Melders are being used simultaneously against him to keep him prisoner and save the world from his destruction for the Black God. Tavon, who has mastered all five abilities on his own, is reinforcing each of his fellow Melders to complete the spell to capture the Demonlord. Nadarzon is soon completely paralyzed and slowly begins to fade into a deep sleep. He curses them and vows revenge before he falls silent.

Once they know they have defeated this immortal enemy, discussion begins on where to hide him and continue to monitor the magical trap to keep him from breaking free. Also, they must decide on a method that would never appear to break this spell on him in the future. After several hours, it is decided the most secure and holy spot to hide the evil being is the village of Adula, a small rural town that no one would ever suspect would harbor one of the greatest evils in the world. The female Melders finalize that a woman would never mate with the evil being and that only an evil ‘unpure woman’ that is human would be able to break the spell they created. All were confident such a woman would never be found in the future no matter how hard evil searched for her.

Before leaving the Lachana Plain, the Melders kill the Demonlord’s allies at the base of the mountains, evil Cygres and other evil monsters to keep them from moving and killing freely in the world. On the last night, all of them search and study for any way to destroy the Demonlord while he is in their magical prison. This continues on the way to Adula as well with no success. Tavon tells them that Tosai never gave him the secret to killing a Demonlord and was not sure his friend even knew how to kill the evil being, aware he would eventually be defeated. Tavon stated he believes his goal was to weaken his enemy enough, through his sacrifice, to allow the Melders to capture and...
