The first full-length adventure from Gosho Aoyama, the legendary creator of Case Closed!

Yaiba Kurogane is an energetic young swordsman who’s grown up training to be a samurai in the jungle with his father, Kenjuro. When they return to Japan, chaos seems to follow wherever Yaiba goes! Destined to be a legendary hero, Yaiba must learn to be a true samurai and save the world!

Yaiba and his companions continue their journey across Japan in search of the legendary orbs. But when Yaiba uses the mysterious Dark Orb during a fierce battle with Goemon Ishikawa, he and Jubei are suddenly pulled into a world of darkness. Can they find their way back before it’s too late? Meanwhile, Onimaru has set up his base atop Mt. Fuji. When he learns about the Dragon God’s Orb, which is said to grant dominion over all, he plans to lure Yaiba and the others to the peak of the sacred mountain in order to claim it!

Gosho Aoyama made his debut in 1986 with Chotto Mattete (Wait a Minute), which won Shogakukan’s prestigious Shinjin Comic Taisho (Newcomer’s Award for Comics) and launched his career as a critically acclaimed, top-selling manga artist. In addition to Case Closed, which won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2001, Aoyama created the popular manga Yaiba: Samurai Legend, which won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1992. Aoyama’s manga is greatly influenced by his boyhood love for mystery, adventure, and baseball, and he has cited the tales of Arsène Lupin and Sherlock Holmes, along with the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa, as some of his childhood favorites.
