It took me five years after my son was born to finally realize the truth-he never loved us.
To end this painful marriage, I decided to take my son and leave. But fate played a cruel trick on us. During a rogue attack, I lost my wolf spirit, and my son lost an eye.
Just as I was drowning in despair, my usually cold and distant husband knelt before everyone, begging for forgiveness and swearing he'd be our rock for life.
So, my son and I gave him a chance-a 100-day trial.
If he proved himself, we'd stay.
But on the 99th day... fate shattered everything again.

Chapter 1 The Truth Tore Us Apart

Summer's POOV

"Alph Foster, you orchestrated that so-called rogue attack—simply to save Suzanna's child? You harvested organs from Luna Summer and your own son—did you truly believe it was worth the cost?"

Then I hheard it—that voice I knew intimately, yet now dripping with an icy indifference that cut through me.

"This is what they owe Suzana and Moore."

My entire body convulsed. A deafening noise exploded inside my skull as reality seemed to disintegrate beneath my feet.

No... impossible.

I must have misheard.

This had to be some cruel delusion.

Foster is Felix's father. How could he—how could he mutilate his own child for another woman's son?

I pressed my palm hard against my mouth, suffocating the wail building in my chest. I couldn't risk making a sound.

Surely this was just a nightmare.

But his voice pulled me back to the brutal truth—each word colder than ice.

"As long as Suzanna is happy, I'll do anything."

The reality crashed down on me with crushing weight. Reflexively, I reached for Felix, covering his small ears.

No. He couldn't hear this horror.

But I was too slow.

Felix was already quaking. His small frame vibrated under my protective hands.

Looking down, I saw him—both hands clamped over his mouth, his single eye stretched wide with shock, disbelief, and something that shattered my heart...

Pure, unfiltered betrayal.

He had heard it all.

The monster who stole his left eye, the shadow that terrorized his sleep—was his own father.

The memories hit me like physical blows—

Felix in intensive care, his tiny body invaded by medical equipment.

He had turned toward me with his remaining eye, voice barely audible.

"Mommy... was it Daddy who took my left eye?"

I had no answer to give. That night, tears consumed me completely. I wept until my voice vanished, until my body convulsed, until I nearly faded into the same darkness that claimed him.

Self-loathing thoughts crushed me repeatedly:

Why did I remove him from pack protection?

Why wasn't I strong enough to shield him?

Why did I fail so fundamentally as his mother?

I once believed this was simply cruel destiny.

Now I know better. My hatred belongs squarely with Alpha Foster.

He deliberately took Felix's eye.

He deliberately destroyed my wolf spirit—and harvested my kidney.

Perhaps the Moon Goddess finally showed mercy by allowing me to discover the truth.

Five years ago, I became Alpha Foster's wife—my fated mate—to strengthen the faltering Silver Creek Pack.

Foster rejected the concept of mate bonds entirely, yet I naively believed sufficient devotion would eventually win his heart.

After our wedding ceremony, reality became clear—his heart belonged elsewhere. Suzanna had claimed it long before I arrived.

Despite this, I persisted in trying to penetrate his cold exterior.

I managed pack affairs diligently, attempting to reduce his responsibilities. I delivered our son, Felix, with genuine happiness—receiving nothing but increasing coldness in return.

Three months ago, I finally confronted the deception and pointlessness of my situation.

I couldn't continue pouring everything into this one-sided relationship. I summoned my courage and departed with Felix, seeking just a moment of peace for us both.

On our journey, we encountered what appeared to be "rogue" attackers. When consciousness returned, I discovered my kidney had been extracted following the attack, leaving my wolf spirit dormant. Felix suffered worse—his eye was gone.

I carried the guilt for endangering him by fleeing. Then Foster materialized in our lives—

This same man who constantly cited pack responsibilities to avoid family interactions, who remained conspicuously absent during Pack Family gatherings.

Suddenly he was omnipresent—showing unexpected tenderness and attention. His daily hospital visits became routine.

He'd lower himself to Felix's level asking about meal preferences, arrange his blankets at bedtime, and maintain silent vigil until sleep claimed us.

Briefly, I permitted myself hope that transformation had occurred. That he'd recognized family's significance. Perhaps... we actually held value to him.

Our union had begun as strategic politics. I'd only ever sought minimal authenticity—even the smallest measure would suffice.

Reality, however, proves merciless. I felt Felix's teardrops dampen my fingers.

My vision blurred too, but I hunched down, whispering for his silence.

Caution was essential. The pack offered no protection. My young Alpha displayed strength beyond his years—offering a subtle nod while encircling me with his small arms.

From inside, the doctor's voice erupted with fury.

"What happens when Luna Summer and Felix uncover this? When Silver Creek Pack learns you violated your blood oath and mate bond?"

Foster remained silent.

He absently traced the moonstone ring adorning his left hand—identical to mine from our fated ceremony beneath Silver Creek's skies.

I fixated on that ring. Once symbolizing eternity, it now represented nothing but bitter deception. In the sterile hospital room, Foster broke the silence, his tone devoid of emotion.

"No one needs to know the truth. They crave nothing more than a perfect family image. I'll dedicate my existence to making amends. Show me the medical reports for Suzanna and Moore immediately."

Your promises mean nothing now, Foster.

Neither Felix nor I require your counterfeit affection anymore.

He methodically examined the documents the doctor provided. A subtle relaxation crossed his features.

"Felix's eye transplant shows stability... Moore can leave the medical pod now. At last, I can relax."

The doctor stood frozen, his body shaking with indignation.

"Alpha Foster! Your devotion to Suzanna ignores the fact she isn't your Luna! You harvested organs from your own flesh and blood! The Council's laws explicitly forbid this! This revelation wouldn't just end you—it would destroy everything Silver Creek stands for!"

"Was this sacrifice truly justifiable?"

Foster's golden-grey eyes hardened to stone. He slammed the folder onto the desk with enough force to crack the wood, his Alpha presence flooding the room like a tsunami.

"Stop," he commanded icily. "You have no right to question me. I'm your Alpha. Compliance is your only duty."

He leaned forward, his voice dropping to something more menacing.

"Suzanna has only Moore. I couldn't stand by while he lost his sight. Felix sacrificed only one eye. He can still function normally. Under my leadership, he'll have everything he needs."

I nearly erupted in bitter laughter.

If losing "just one eye" is so insignificant, why not sacrifice your own?

But the truth was always there—Felix and I were merely accessories in Foster's life.

The doctor persisted, "Do you honestly believe this secret will stay buried forever? That they'll never discover what you've done?"

Foster responded with unnerving serenity, "They won't. I've eliminated all evidence."

His mouth curved into a confident smile—arrogant and unrepentant."Besides... Summer and Felix love me."

The Luna who once cherished you died when your betrayal came to light, I reflected silently.

Foster rolled the medical report between his fingers inside the room, his voice devoid of emotion.

"With Suzanna and Moore stabilized, we'll move them to the pack house."

His eyes glazed over momentarily—activating the mind-link to communicate with Smith, his Beta.

Within minutes, Smith emerged from the opposite wing—where Suzanna was recovering.

"Prepare everything," Foster commanded. "Ensure Summer remains unaware."

The sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the sterile hallway.

Acting on pure instinct, I pulled Felix into a shadowed alcove, but we'd been spotted.

"Summer? Felix?"

Foster's voice carried an unmistakable edge of alarm.

I exchanged a glance with Felix, both of us quickly wiping tear tracks from our faces.

When we stepped into view, I had already plastered on a convincing smile.

"You disappeared for so long we got concerned. We came searching but nearly lost our way in these corridors."

He paused before forcing his features into a smile. "Is that so? What timing."

My gaze dropped deliberately to the paperwork clutched in his hand.

With unwavering composure, I asked, "Are those our test results?"

His expression faltered. He hastily concealed the documents behind him.

"I'll... explain everything at the warehouse. No need to rush."

I studied him—this man who once held my heart and trust.

My smile remained intact while my eyes revealed nothing but emptiness.

"Fine. Let's return home."

I grasped Felix's small hand and turned away.

Foster hesitated briefly before catching up—scooping Felix into his arms.

Continuing his charade as the devoted father.

Pretending our world hadn't shattered.

But everything had changed.

I refuse to remain passive any longer.

Escaping will require patience.I will rescue Felix from this nightmare, no matter the cost.
