Chapter 38
Lily laughed again as Leo told her a joke. She couldn't stop laughing and Leo also joined her. They were at the bar, keeping each other company.
Since it is a private bar and it is only open to the guests in the suites, only a few people were there.
Hours passed with Lily not realising it, she had no idea it was night already. She kept enjoying her conversation with Leo.
Leo’s phone suddenly beeped and he picked it up, it was a text and he ignored it. He noticed the time and his eyes widened a little.
“Oh, shit.” He muttered and Lily raised her brows.
“What is it? What's wrong?” She asked and he looked up at her.
“It's past 8:00 pm already.” He replied and Lily gasped.
“What?” She asked and hurriedly stood up, Leo did too.
“Calm down, Lily. It's not that late.” Leo said, trying to calm her down but she didn't listen.
She kept thinking about how mad Axel would be at her at the same time, she kept hoping he wasn't around yet.
“I have to go.” He said and was about to walk away but he stood in her presence.
“It's okay, I will walk you.” He offered and Lily nodded. They both walked out of the bar and entered the elevator, Leo pressed the button to the eleventh floor where their suites were.
Lily kept playing with her fingers and praying Axel wasn't at the suite yet.
“Hey, it's okay.” Leo said and she sighed.
“He is going to be so mad at me.”
“Your husband?” Leo asked and she nodded in response, he smiled and moved closer to her.
“It's okay, I am sure he would understand.” He replied softly and placed his hand on her hair. Lily was about to pull away from him but the elevator door opened, they both turned and their eyes met with Axel’s.
He was standing in the hallway, not so far from them. He was on a phone call and his free hand was in his pants pocket.
Lily gasped and hurriedly pulled away from Leo, she walked out of the elevator and he also did.
She couldn't look up at Axel, she bowed her head a little as she walked closer to him.
“Hey, man.” Leo called as they got to Axel and Axel ended the call.
“I am Leo, nice to meet you. Lily has told me a lot about you.” He said but Axel didn't give him a response, all he did was stare at him.
“Sorry she is late, I delayed her. You have a very beautiful wife.” Leo said but Axel still didn't give him a reply.
“Okay.” Leo muttered and chuckled nervously.
“Goodbye Lily, see you some other time.”
“Bye, Leo.” Lily replied without looking up at him, Leo smiled at Axel before walking into his suite.
Axel also walked into their suite and Lily trailed behind him.
“Who is he?” Axel asked as he took off his jacket and dropped it on the bed, then he turned to Lily.
“He… he is a friend.” Lily replied and Axel moved closer to her.
“A friend? You don't have any friends.” Axel replied.
“I just met him today and he offered to keep me company at the bar.” She replied and looked up at him. This time, his face held an expression but Lily couldn't really tell if he was mad or not. He wasn't raising his voice, he talked calmly but his brows were furrowed a little.
“You followed a stranger to the bar?” He asked and Lily shook her head as her heart started to race. She had no idea why she was so scared but she feared Axel might hurt her.
“No. I didn't mean to. The only reason I followed was because I didn't have the key card with me and I couldn't sit in the hallway and wait for you since I had no idea when you would be back.” She explained.
“Are you that dumb? You could have gone to one of the employees and explained the situation to them, they would have given you another key card.” Axel replied and tears welled up in Lily’s eyes. She felt insulted.
She felt so sad Axel called her dumb.
“I am not dumb. I just didn't know what to do and he offered to help me.” She explained with her voice breaking and tears streaming down her eyes.
“I know it is wrong to follow a stranger but I had no choice. You left me when you were supposed to be with me.” She cried and Axel rolled his eyes.
He was mad at her but he wasn't anymore. He didn't want to care that she was crying but he couldn't help it.
He got back to the hotel a couple of hours ago and he was surprised she wasn't in the suite, he asked his guards about her whereabouts and they told him that she went up the suite herself.
He wasn't really worried because he knew she would be in the hotel somewhere but he was a little bit bothered because he knew how gullible she was and she would be all by herself.
He was about to go and look around the hotel for her when she showed up, he wasn't expecting her to be with someone not to talk of a guy.
“I will get you your key card.” He replied and walked away from her. Lily sniffed and wiped her tears, his words hurt her but she was glad he didn't yell at her.
She remained on the spot, she had no idea what to do. Axel walked into the room and met her still on the spot.
“Here is a phone.” He said and dropped a boxed phone on the bed.
“I already set it up for you, my number is already there. Always call me if you need me.” He said and walked away again. Lily walked to the bed and picked up the box, she sat and opened the box then brought out the phone.
It was the latest iPhone but it was a pink one. She smiled and turned it on. She recalled how bad her last phone was and she was happy she had a huge upgrade.
Suddenly, she wasn't mad at Axel anymore, she remembered how well he treated her the whole day except for when he left. Her heart softened and she dropped her phone on the bed.
“Axel.” She called as she walked towards the balcony. She got there and met him smoking as he stared at the view.
She walked closer to him and stood next to him, Axel glanced at her and he stopped smoking and stepped on it.
“Axel, I’m sorry.” She apologised and played with her fingers.
“Why are you apologising?” Axel asked.
“For making you worried.” She replied and he nodded. He was about to walk away when she suddenly hugged him, Axel paused for a few seconds before slowly wrapping his arms around her. He buried his face in her neck and inhaled her fragrance.
He was starting to have lustful thoughts and he pulled away from her, she smiled at him.
“I wasn't there when you needed me. From now on, you can always call me. No matter where you are, I will always find you. I will always be there for you, Lily.”
Chapter 39
After their conversation on the balcony, Lily returned to the room to have dinner while Axel remained on the balcony. She picked different meals from the food cart and ate them happily.
She was glad Axel wasn't mad at her. She suddenly thought about Leo and she smiled, she liked him and enjoyed his company, she really enjoyed being his friend.
As she continued with her meal, she heard a phone beep and she looked around to see Axel’s phone on the table.
Since he wasn't in the room, she stood up and walked to it. She picked up the phone and was about to walk to him but she got curious and decided to go through his phone.
She turned it on and tried to unlock it but it required a password. She bit her lip as she thought of what it could be. She tried his name and last name but they were both wrong, she tried Nora’s name too but still, it was also wrong.
She tried a random word too and it was still wrong, this time, the phone locked automatically by itself and it needed five minutes before another password could be tried.
“Shit.” She muttered.
She heard footsteps and she dropped the phone and ran to the bed. Axel walked into the room and glanced at her as he picked up his phone.
He raised his brows seeing his phone was locked, he looked at Lily and she hurriedly looked away from him and pretended like she was eating.
Axel knew she was trying to gain access to his phone, he knew how curious his wife could be.
“When you are done with your meal, let’s go for a walk.” Axel said and she nodded with a smile.
“Aren't you going to have dinner?”
“I already did.” He replied.
Lily hurried with her meal and walked to Axel who was waiting, she smiled at him and he tucked his phone in his pants pocket.
“I’m ready.” She said with a smile and they both walked out of the suite together.
In minutes, they were out of the elevator and heading out of the hotel.
“Do you know your way around here?” Lily asked as they got to the exit.
“Not really.” He replied.
“Is it a good idea to take a walk then?” She asked and he shrugged.
“We can't get lost.” He replied and she chuckled.
They walked down the street and Lily kept looking around while Axel kept watching her. They walked in silence for minutes until Lily decided to break it when she noticed something.
“Axel.” She called.
“Hmm?”
“Isn't this the building you always stare at through our balcony?” She asked as she looked up at the building. It was also a hotel.
“Yes, what about it?” He asked back and Lily shook her head in response.
“Nothing, I just wanted to be sure.” She replied and he nodded. He suddenly checked the time on his wristwatch and he let out a sigh.
“It's late already, let’s head back.” He said and Lily furrowed her brows. She found it...
