CHAPTER: 5
ICE Warrior’s Awakening
Darkness still lingered in the corners of the cave as smoke and heat faded from the air.
Red leaned against a boulder, chest rising and falling with each breath. His armor was gone — only soot and sweat remained. In the silence, he watched over Frost’s body. His friend had fallen hard. Unconscious, unmoving.
But not untouched.
Unknown to both of them, during the chaos of the battle, the small, brilliant blue sapphire had rolled beneath Frost’s hand. Now, it pulsed faintly — and without sound, it slid into place, clicking perfectly into the socket of the silver ring Frost wore on his right hand.
The stone flashed once.
And then, silence again.
Frost’s fingers twitched.
He groaned — soft, confused.
His eyelids fluttered, then opened.
“Ugh… why’s my hand burning?”
He sat up slowly, body aching, head fogged. A sharp, ticklish itch danced along his ring finger.
He looked down. The sapphire gleamed back at him.
Instinctively — without thought — he scratched at it.
Rub.
Then again.
Rub.
Suddenly, his eyes widened as cold air rushed into his lungs like ice water. His body stiffened.
The transformation had begun.
A pulse of blue light exploded from his chest, encasing him in frost and mist.
His hair turned pale — not white, not silver, but the soft, sharp blue of glaciers under moonlight. Shards of frost curled from his fingers. A suit of deep-blue and silver-etched armor shimmered into existence, seamless and regal, layered like stacked ice plates.
His gloves crackled with frost. His breath became visible, misting with each exhale. And just as his eyes glowed an intense frost-blue, a sharp-edged mask began forming — smooth, translucent, and jagged like a sculpted shard of crystal. It sealed over the lower half of his face, hiding his identity in a cold, elegant veil.
He stood there — no longer the boy who had panicked moments ago.
He was something else now.
The ICE Warrior.
And in his hand — not summoned, but grown — a spear formed, ice-forged, long and elegant, with glowing runes along the shaft and a blade like a frozen flame.
Red’s tired eyes widened as he watched the spectacle from his resting place. His body screamed to stand, to join, but he was too drained.
Still, he grinned.
"That’s it, Frost… now it's your turn."
A massive figure was already advancing through the portal — the second of its kind.
The hulking beast — bone-armored and wielding a club of fused stone and wood — gave a guttural roar and stomped into the cave.
Red, too weak to rise, simply watched.
Frost stepped forward.
He didn’t hesitate.
He charged.
Their clash was quick and brutal. The beast swung. Frost dodged. His spear lashed out, carving streaks of frost across the Malgoth’s limbs. Ice crackled at every touch, slowing the monster’s swings.
The UI blinked into view in front of Frost.

Frost squinted. “Whoa… what is this? Some kind of interface…?”
Frost’s spear acted as an extension of him — fast, deliberate. He didn’t know the names of the moves, but his body did. Ice coiled where he willed it.
The Malgoth struck back with raw strength, but it was slower — its limbs crusted with frost.
Then Frost leapt — his spear spinning — and landed a perfect strike into the creature’s side.
The Malgoth staggered.
Growled.
And then — much like the first — retreated into the breach from which it had come, fading back into the realm behind the light.
Frost stood in silence, heart pounding.
“Red?” he called, voice muffled slightly behind his mask.
Red gave a weak smile from where he sat. “I saw it all.”
Frost turned and walked toward him.
“I don’t know what that was,” he said breathlessly, “but that power — I felt like—”
“I know,” Red said, lifting a hand to cut him off. “I know.”
Frost took a step, then stumbled. His knees gave out.
Red rushed to him and caught him, throwing Frost’s arm over his shoulders.
“Whoa. Adrenaline crash, huh?”
Frost nodded, breathing hard. “Body’s… freezing…”
“Yeah,” Red muttered. “You just got ice-punched by destiny. Welcome to the club.” They started hobbling toward the exit together.
But then — a small, snarling creature darted out of the breach, shrieking as it lunged toward them.
Red didn’t think. His hand moved on instinct — and his flameblade burst to life mid-swing, slashing the creature in half.
Both boys froze.
Red stared at his blade.
“…I summoned that.”
Frost blinked. “Without transforming?” The blade glowed faintly — then faded.
Red exhaled. “Guess some things don’t need full power anymore…”
And Then—

“Ok...?” Red muttered with a disgust. “Gotta find a way to fix it to a full 100%, those slashes to the big guy may had weakened it....”
He helped Frost sit beside a rock, then turned to the breach.
Stone by stone, Red began to push fallen boulders toward the opening.
He didn’t stop until it was sealed as best as he could manage.
He dropped beside Frost again, breath ragged, arms shaking.
And then — he saw the dusty backpack lying in a corner.
He groaned. “Tell me we packed snacks.”
Frost cracked one eye open. “That’s your concern right now?”
Red reached over, patted the dust off, and pulled out two squashed protein bars.
He handed one to Frost.
“Cheers,” he muttered, cracking a weak smile.
They ate in silence.
Frost looked up toward the cave mouth. The sky beyond was darkening.
“We need to go,” he said finally. “It’s getting late. And this place still… creeps me out.”
But Red wasn’t listening.
He was staring at the ancient carvings on the cave wall.
The ones they had seen when they first entered the cave, hours ago.
He stood and stepped closer.
“Frost… these symbols…”
Frost followed, groggy. “Same ones from earlier…”
“I wish I could understand them,” Red muttered. “Or at least… someone could translate—”
A shimmer.
A glow.
A user interface appeared before them — different this time. Older. Dustier. Almost… archaeologic.

"This passage marks the gate to the Realm of Vorgorath, forged by the power of the
Tanzanite Core."
"Those who cross carry the curse of reformation."
"The guardians of the rift: known as Malgoths."
"Smaller riftspawn: classed as Velgorns."
"Tanzanite is fuel, not life — it feeds the breach but not the chosen."
“Tanzanite…” Red whispered.
“It powers their realm,” Frost said. “Not ours.”
They stared at the carvings. One of the etched figures looked exactly like the creature they had fought.
Red looked toward the still-glowing breach, now mostly sealed.
Frost stepped closer and held his hand up. The UI responded.

“I can access the portal interface,” Frost said, squinting. “Like it’s tracking portal behavior…”
“Weird. And kind of genius.”
Red turned away, looking out at the horizon again.
“We should head back.”
Frost nodded.
As they walked, the cave quieted behind them.
The stars had taken over the sky by the time they reached the base of the mountain. The air outside was clean, crisp, and silent — a complete contrast to what they’d left behind.
They didn’t speak much.
But eventually, Frost broke the silence.
“This is a tremendous amount of disastrous data.”
Red chuckled. “Yeah. Next time, we stick to museums.”
They reached the back of the inn, feet dragging. As they stepped inside, Red looked at the hallway button.
“The hidden room,” he said.
Frost raised an eyebrow.
Red pressed it.
