CHAPTER 53

EVOLET

The night was finally here and I couldn't wait to head down to the arena and watch the games for Derby's sake.

Even though Gamma Dave's action had almost changed my mind about heading to the battleground, I shoved that animal aside and stood on my promise to Derby.

She's my friend after all, and I want to show her my support. But that can possible when Mom leaves for her work.

I must say, I'm happy she's starting tonight, otherwise she would have said no, if she wasn't heading out.

"Goodness, I forgot my purse," Mom groaned, rushing back into her room.

I, on the other, sat on the couch with both Cadell and Trent, watching my Mom run about, looking for what and what she needs for her night work. It's not as if I can't help her, but I don't want her screaming at me again.

When I tried to assist her in getting her things ready, she asked with a frown, "Why are you acting like someone who wants to kick a problem out the door? Did I ask you to help me?"

All because I tried to help out.

So, I did her a favor and sat aside, allowing her to do all the work herself.

"Is this how you'll behave in your husband's home, Eve?" Mom threw that question suddenly, looking at me from the entrance of her room.

"So, if your mother-in-law needs help, you'll just sit there and watch her suffer?"

"But I thought you don't need my..." I paused on seeing her arms crossing her chest. Sighing out, I got to my feet and went into her room to look for her purse.

Note; Even if you're in the right, you're wrong in your mother's eyes, if you think she's in the wrong. Just don't try and defend yourself.

Once I found the purse right on her bed, I handed it over to my mother, who swiftly grabbed it out from my hand and rushed out of the room, saying, "I'll be back by nine in the morning. Make sure you don't mess this place when I return. Take good care of Wolfy and Kitty. And no mess!"

All that she yelled while zooming out of the house with speed, diving straight into the road to get a cab.

"Bye!" I waved, watching Mom chasing after a cab that slowly stopped to pick her.

And once she was out of sight... " Yes!" I rejoiced, slamming the door and turning around to face both Cadell and Trent. They had swiftly shifted into their human form, looking at me from the couch.

"Finally! We have the place to ourselves. How about a party, huh?" Cadell suggested, rubbing his palms hungrily.

Trent objected, reminding Cadell of my mother's instruction. "No mess means no disaster. Do you want to get Evolet into trouble with your roughness?"

"This isn't a palace, your majesty. This is a common man's house. Learn to get messy and see how nice it is, Alpha," Cadell said, rolling his eyes at Trent.

I didn't have time for their fight but rushed to my room to get dressed for the game. Once I was done, I made my way to the living room to still meet Cadell and Trent arguing.

They only stopped when they noticed that I had changed from my night dress to something different. This got them off the couch in confusion.

"Come on, we need to hurry up before all the seats are taken," I said, heading for the door.

That's when I heard Cadell asking from behind, "You really want to head to the game?"

I turned around and nodded at him. "Yeah," I responded.

"After what that annoying Gamma did, you still want to go there? What if he bugs you again?" Trent asked, looking uncomfortable with this.

But I shoved it aside and said, drawing closer to them, "That jackass won't even lay his eyes on me with all the workload on ground. Besides, this is for Derby. She needs us there to support her. So, if I'm going, my two kids are going to come along with their Mommy. Isn't that right?"

I pulled their cheeks, placing their head together. That brought a serious discomfort to both Cadell and Trent, who chorused out at once, "Please stop. Just spare us."

I laughed, letting them go. They immediately drew apart, wiping their faces with their palm.

Silly men.

"Shall we?" I asked, pulling out my house key from the pocket to show them how ready I was.

Cadell and Trent had no choice but to agree to it. They nodded and followed me out of the house, heading for the game.

On our way, I recalled Gamma Dave's craziness in the morning and felt the guys should shift into their animal form for safety. They wondered why they couldn't head to the arena as humans, so I came up with a reasonable excuse, in which they'd understand.

"After that rumor, people have been following our every movement with their eyes lately, just to look for something to talk about. The tailor Mom sent me to this morning, asked about my relationship with you two, and I didn't like it."

"Oh, I see," Trent uttered, glancing at Cadell.

"You know how people can be with their tongues. I don't want them spreading too much nonsense that would get to my mother's ears. I don't want her to know I'm outside at this hour, otherwise she'd think I'm doing something unholy. You get me, right?" I explained.

With understanding, they both agreed and shifted into their animal forms, bringing peace to my heart.

"At least that annoying Gamma won't see them to pick a fight with. He must be pulling up a stupid plan to make Cadell and Trent pay for humiliating Allen. Well I won't allow anyone to bully my kids. Gosh, now I sound like a mother." I sighed, patting my forehead.

Cadell and Trent saw when I did this, but thought they did something to make me act like that. And to solve it, Cadell slammed Trent's head to the ground, grinning at me.

I laughed out immediately. "Stop that," I giggled, picking Trent and carrying him into my arms. "Let's go," I said, leading the way.

.

The arena was filled up with the pack members who came to watch this sudden game held by the Queen unexpectedly. It was a full house, and I was lucky to get a seat for the event.

To show you how serious this case was, there were some people in the crowds, taking someone else's seat when they got up to attend to one or two things. Maybe to pick something or cheer at the game. There were some nasty seat snatchers that would dive in and claim it like it belongs to them!

If not for Cadell and Trent, by now someone would have done the same with me when I bent down to get my phone. It fell out of my hand when a big ass lady pushed me with her big butt! And the moment I bent down to get it, one fatso almost yanked me off but ran back when Cadell got on the seat, growling at him. Another came from the other side but drew back on hearing Trent hissing, almost scratching his leg with his claws.

Yep, my children saved my seat and scared those intruders away.

Now I can watch the game with no problem.

The best part of it was the fact that we arrived after the first girls fought, with a winner emerging out victorious.

This meant we were just in time for Derby's fight.

But before her turn, it was that backstabbing Fiona's turn to fight. She came out with style, getting the whole people to cheer for her.

I rolled my eyes in disgust, directing them to the Queen and Alpha's seat. There I saw both Queen Chriselda and Sorceress Thelma cheering for Fiona with so much passion, but Alpha Allen didn't even get to his feet. He just sat there, clapping with a dull face.

The fight started and Fiona didn't hesitate to steal the show by beating her opponent within a minute.

This sent the crowds screaming and hailing her name out, filling Fiona with pride. Her shoulder rose, as she waved at the people before facing the Queen and Alpha to take a bow.

Queen Chriselda responded with a loud clap while Allen on the other hand, directed his eyes off Fiona, like he didn't see her.

This was amusing to watch. "Since when did he start ignoring her?" I scoffed, swaying my head.

But my amusement faded when I saw Allen's eyes falling at my direction. There was this sudden shock all over his face when he spotted me in the crowds, fixing his gaze at me.

I wanted to take it as my head playing a game on me, but the eyes don't lie. Allen was really looking at me!

I had to look away and pretend not to have seen him, just to get him to look elsewhere. But from the corner of my eyes, I could still see him staring at my point.

"Why did I look?" I groaned, regretting my action.

Fiona soon left and two other sets came out and fought, with their winners celebrating their victory and the losers leaving in sadness.

I was beginning to feel bored but switched to excitement when my bestie came out, ready to fight.

"DERBY! WOOO!" I screamed along with others who admired her, waving my hands.

Derby was swift to spot me in my seat, waving her hand with a smile on her face. I also noticed how her eyes lingered from my left to right, looking for something or perhaps...someone.

That observation was confirmed when she signaled me with her eyes, asking for Cadell and Trent. All I could do was shrug and sway my head, so she'd know they didn't come.

That response took half of Derby's smile. She was unhappy to see that Trent didn't show up.

If only she knew that he was here, but not in the form she knows.

"Wait a minute," an idea popped into my head.

Quickly, I lifted Cat Trent for Derby to see, waving his little paw at her. That brought a smile to her face, as she waved back at us.

"What are you doing?" I heard Trent speak while I was waving his paw to Derby.

Then I muttered softly, still waving his paw at Derby "Putting a smile on our girl's face. Poor girl was looking for you. I...
