What would you sacrifice to save the ones you love? Worldwide Airlines pilot Evan Wheeler is desperate. After losing his teenage daughter to a rare illness, his wife and younger daughter are fighting the same fate. Their only hope lies in organ transplants that seem forever out of reach-until the airline's CEO offers Evan a horrifying deal: pilot Flight 987 to a remote Amazon runway, cut off the cabin's oxygen, and render the passengers brain-dead. Their bodies will be harvested for organs, securing Evan's family's future. Haunted by guilt, Evan agrees-unaware that one flight attendant, Stephanie Pratt, survives long enough to fight back. Meanwhile, journalist Levi Mathews is struggling to rebuild his life after a scandal destroyed his career. When his fiancée Stephanie boards Flight 987 and never returns, Levi is thrust into a nightmare. The official story of a decompression tragedy doesn't add up-especially when Stephanie's body arrives home, showing signs of a brutal attack. As Levi's investigation collides with Evan's unraveling lies, the truth behind the flight's sinister mission threatens to destroy them both.

Stacy grew up in Martinsville, NJ, and now lives in Kirkland, WA. As a flight attendant for 34 years, her travels to places like Brazil, Japan, and Europe have shaped her storytelling. After discovering her dyslexia post-college, Stacy embraced writing despite the challenges. Flight 987 blends her aviation career and creative passion, inspired by real-life events: the story of an airline pilot who will do anything-even the unthinkable-to save his family, and the relentless hunt to uncover the truth. Seventeen years in the making, the book combines imagination with real experiences from her aviation career. The story even caught the attention of an Oscar-winning producer.
What would you sacrifice to save the ones you love?Evan Wheeler, a veteran pilot for Worldwide Airlines, has just faced the unimaginable losing his teenage daughter, Danni, to a rare illness. Now, his wife, Abby, and younger daughter, Jennifer, are fighting the same battle, but their positions on the national donor list make transplants an unlikely miracle. Just when hope seems lost, Worldwide Airlines CEO Robert Thomas Alexander makes a horrifying offer: Evan can secure cloned organs for his family but only if he pilots Flight 987 to a remote Amazon runway and sacrifices the passengers. Torn between his family's survival and his conscience, Evan ultimately agrees, unaware of the full scope of the plan. As the flight approaches Brazilian airspace, he takes drastic action, setting off a chain of events that will haunt him forever. One flight attendant, Stephanie Pratt, becomes an unexpected complication, forcing Evan to make an even more unthinkable choice. Levi Mathews, a disgraced journalist trying to rebuild his life after a public meltdown, has found a glimmer of hope in his relationship with Stephanie. But when news breaks that Flight 987 has vanished over the Amazon, Levi's world crumbles. Official reports claim a decompression tragedy, but the evidence doesn't add up especially when Stephanie's body is found with signs of foul play. Levi's instincts reignite, and he is determined to uncover the truth. As Levi follows a trail of secrets and lies, he teams up with CC Cardoso, an airline employee and widow of Flight 987's co-pilot, to track down the truth in the Amazon jungle. Their journey leads them to the abandoned ruins of Fordlandia, where they stumble upon evidence of a chilling medical operation and a network of hidden agendas. Meanwhile, Evan's life unravels as the fallout of his decision takes an unexpected and terrifying turn. Back in the U.S., investigative reporter Yazmin Da Silva begins uncovering the elusive Dr. Jose Santiago's dark past, piecing together the shocking truth behind the organ cloning scheme. As Alexander's secrets start to surface, those who dare to pursue the truth find themselves hunted by powerful forces. In a final, desperate act, Evan takes control of his fate, risking everything to tell his story to the world. But with danger closing in from all sides, it becomes a race against time to expose the conspiracy before it vanishes into the shadows once more. Flight 987 is a gripping thriller that explores the boundaries of morality, the consequences of desperation, and the unstoppable drive to uncover the truth.

Chapter 9

THE CONTINENTAL

EXCLUSIVE: A Dark Market for Organs?

In a world where medical advancements promise hope, a chilling reality lurks beneath the surface—an underground industry where life-saving organs are bought and sold at astronomical prices. Sources within international medical communities’ whisper of a Venezuelan doctor, hailed as a “miracle worker,” who has reportedly developed a method to clone human organs with zero risk of rejection. But there’s a catch.

With prices soaring into the millions, these procedures are accessible only to the ultra-wealthy. And when demand outstrips supply, what happens next? Disturbing allegations suggest that certain high-profile figures have found alternative methods—methods that require tragedy to strike in just the right way.

Could “unforeseeable accidents” be more than coincidence? Some whistleblowers believe so. Investigators are now questioning whether medical ethics can stand against the weight of unchecked power and unimaginable desperation.

How far would someone go to save the ones they love? And more importantly—how far have they already gone?

Evan Wheeler

Somerville, NJ

Evan sat in the ICU room, holding his wife’s frail hand. The oxygen machine’s rhythmic whoosh was like a lullaby, dragging him into the edges of sleep. He rested his forehead against their entwined fingers, exhaustion weighing on him. Just a few minutes. That’s all he needed.

A gentle shake pulled him back. “Evan?”

He blinked, disoriented, until the nurse’s face sharpened in front of him. “Someone from downstairs called. Your ride is here.”

His stomach twisted. He kissed Abby’s cool cheek, guilt clawing at him. “I love you,” he whispered. “I’ll be back soon.”

Walking toward the nursing station, his chest tightened. A nurse looked up and gave him a small, practiced smile. “We’ll call you if there are any changes.”

Evan nodded and forced himself forward.

Through the sliding glass doors of the hospital lobby, he spotted a black sedan idling at the curb. A heavyset older man leaned against the side, watching him approach. “Evan Wheeler?”

Evan nodded. The man opened the back door, and Evan slid in without another word.

The drive was thankfully quiet, the silence broken by the occasional turn signal. Evan’s hands typed words in the search engine without any help from his brain. His fingers twitched against his thigh, a nervous habit he couldn’t seem to shake.

Too soon, the sedan pulled under a covered entrance in front of a stately late-eighteenth-century mansion. Before the driver could open the door, Evan had already stepped out.

“Sorry,” he muttered, feeling his cheeks warm.

“Happens all the time,” the driver replied, giving him a knowing look.

The front door swung open before he reached it. Robert Alexander stood in the doorway, smiling. “Evan,” he said, extending his hand. “Come in.”

The air inside was crisp and scented with something rich—polished wood, maybe leather. The sheer scale of the house made Evan pause. A massive crystal chandelier hung from a cathedral ceiling, sending shards of light across the polished marble floors. A grand stairway curled toward the second floor like something out of a movie.

“So glad you could make it,” Robert said, leading the way. “We’re having lunch on the patio. My great-great-grandfather built this house in 1875. We updated it last year.”

Evan followed through a series of impeccably furnished rooms, past a sleek, modern kitchen, and out onto a sprawling stone patio. The New Jersey valley stretched endlessly below.

“We added the infinity pool last year,” Robert said, gesturing before leading Evan to a vine-covered pergola. A stone fireplace stood at one end; its hearth flanked by two sofas.

“Sit,” Robert urged, settling onto the opposite sofa and stretching an arm along the backrest.

Evan perched forward, his elbows on his knees. He didn’t want small talk. He needed answers.

“Mr. Alexander, you have a beautiful home,” he offered, just to push things along.

“Please, call me Robert,” he said smoothly. The maid arrived with two glasses of iced tea. “Before we get started, would you mind giving Masha your phone?”

Evan tensed. His fingers instinctively curled around the device in his pocket. “My phone?”

Robert smiled, reassuring. “What I’m about to tell you is very controversial. Masha will let you know if the hospital calls.”

Evan hesitated before slowly pulling his phone from his pocket. His hands trembled as he handed it over. His throat was dry.

“Now, tell me about your wife and little girl,” Robert said. “What is their diagnosis?”

Evan exhaled, his shoulders stiff. “They have intestinal dysmotility. Their intestines seize every few minutes, cutting off blood, oxygen, and nutrients. The medications have slowed the process, but some of the damage is irreversible.” He swallowed hard. “My wife, Abby—her liver is shutting down. My daughter, Danni… we caught it too late. She needed a five-organ transplant. There was nothing we could do.”

Robert’s expression was unreadable. “I’m truly sorry for your loss. And your younger daughter?”

“She’s diabetic now. She has grand mal seizures from low blood sugar. Eventually, she might need a pancreas.” Evan rubbed at his temples, feeling a dull headache forming.

Robert took a measured sip of his tea. “I may have a solution.”

Evan’s breath hitched. His stomach twisted. “What solution?”

“My wife, Alexis—we call her Button—she almost died.” Robert leaned forward. “She was adopted from a remote Romanian village as a baby. Right away, her parents knew something was wrong. Juvenile diabetes. She nearly didn’t make it.”

Evan nodded, but his chest felt tight. Where was this going?

“They spared no expense—took her to every specialist, tried every treatment. But when I met her, she had just graduated from Princeton. The disease had ravaged her body. By the time we married, both of her kidneys were failing.” He sighed. “I was shattered. I couldn’t lose her.”

A maid appeared. “Mr. Alexander, lunch is ready.”

Robert stood. “Come, Evan. Let’s eat.”

They walked through an ivy-covered stone archway into a garden where a bistro table was set for two. The maid placed shrimp salad in front of Evan, then offered wine.

“No, thank you,” he said quickly. His focus was on Robert, his fingers gripping the edge of the table.

Robert continued, “Button needed a kidney and a pancreas, but her rare blood type made a transplant nearly impossible.”

Evan’s pulse quickened. His hands curled into fists on his lap. “So, what happened?”

Robert smirked. “I met a man at a fundraiser. He introduced me to a doctor in Venezuela. A genius. His name is Dr. José Santiago.” He took another sip of wine. “He changed everything.”

Evan leaned in; his stomach coiled tight. “What do you mean?”

“Santiago developed a way to clone human organs,” Robert said, pausing for effect. “Organs that aren’t blood-type specific. No chance of rejection.”

Evan’s heart pounded. He felt his hands go clammy. “That’s… not possible.”

“Oh, it’s very possible,” Robert said. “Button had her transplants. Seventeen years later, she’s thriving.”

Evan barely heard him. His ears buzzed. “How do I get these organs?”

Robert’s smile turned sharp. “One pays a lot of money. A kidney? A million dollars. A pancreas? Two million.”

Evan’s stomach churned. His breathing quickened. “Does he allow payments?”

“No,” Robert said simply. “It’s all cash.”

Evan’s nails dug into his palms. “Then why am I here?”

Robert leaned in. “Because there’s another way.”

Evan stilled. His mouth went dry. “What are you saying?”

“All the doctor needs are a large group of people, say, a hundred and eighty, from an unforeseeable accident.”

Evan frowned, his fingers going numb. “I don’t—what do you mean, a supply?”

“A decompression,” Robert said coolly. “All you would have to do is turn off the oxygen.”

“Murder?” Evan’s voice broke. “You want me to commit mass murder?”

Robert leaned back in his chair. “It would be a painless death.”

Evan reeled back, shaking...
