Though they didn't meet until their sixties, photographer Michael Kenna and writer Pico Iyer had been unknowingly following similar paths for decades. Both were born in England, studied near Oxford in the 1970s, moved to the U.S. West Coast, and fell in love with Japan. Michael Kenna gilt als einer der renommiertesten Landschaftsfotografen der Gegenwart. Er nutzt traditionell analoge Technik auf Film. Seine bildnerischen, grafischen und zugleich handwerklichen Meisterstücke werden in mehr als 100 Museen und Ausstellungen weltweit gezeigt. Pico Iyer ist Autor mehrerer Bücher zum Thema Globalisierung und verfasste Romane und literarische Essays. Renommierte Zeitschriften in den USA veröffentlichten seine Beiträge, darunter „Time“, „New Yorker“, „Los Angeles Times“ und „Financial Times“. Seit über 30 Jahren ist er mit dem Dalai Lama befreundet. Pico Iyer hat indische Wurzeln und lebt derzeit in Japan.
