Slim Volume collates some of Paul Cookson's shorter daily poems written during lockdown with many of his more recent compositions, published in print for the first time.
Back at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, acclaimed poet Paul Cookson set out to write a poem a day to share across social media - and is still going strong. More than 2000 consecutive poems later, Slim Volume collates some of his shorter daily poems written during lockdown with many of his more recent compositions, published in print for the first time.

Paul Cookson was brought up near Preston, Lancs, and now lives in Retford, Notts, where he is the official Town Crier. He has worked as a poet for more than three decades, performing in schools, libraries, and at literature festivals across the world. He is a National Reading Hero award winner, a National Poetry Day Ambassador, and poet in residence for the National Football Museum and Everton in the Community – whilst the band Slade have proclaimed him their very own Poet Laureate. Paul created the children’s series Bluenoses with Martin Chatterton, and has more than 60 published titles to his name – including the ‘teacher’s Bible’ The Works. Award-winning writer, designer, illustrator, and performer Dr Martin Chatterton has been working successfully for over 30 years in a variety of media and design fields in the UK, USA, and Australia. He has written 40 books across a wide range of ages and genres, from picture books to crime fiction, and has illustrated countless books for a raft of prestigious writers, including Julia Donaldson and Roger McGough. Recently, he has concentrated on screenwriting, animation, and screen production. Martin is a founding partner of Hungry Head Productions in the UK, and co-producer of the animated children’s series Bluenoses. He now lives in Sydney, Australia.
