What is Vicarious Violence? Term coined by Sonia Vaccaro. Kind of gender-based violence that manipulates women by abusing their children, who are the most precious thing to them. Thus, the abuser seeks to maintain control, isolating, defaming, humiliating, maliciously causing pain and guilt to the woman, tormenting her psychologically, emotionally, financially, depriving her of her autonomy, not directly but by substituting them with the children. It logically has negative effects on children physically, mentally, emotionally. But since it leaves no marks on the body, the penal codes of countries, even here in the "First World," lacks classification of it as a "crime or criminal offense," and therefore it is not penalized. Until when?! Women, mothers, children deserve protection, even if the authorities, judges, and the State itself deny it and turn a blind eye.

There are achievements that were not given medals, applause, diplomas, or fanfare. Achieving and remaining functional day by day in this endless carousel called life is complicated enough on its own. However, there is a type of violence that doesn't leave bruises or shows blood, but does create trauma, brings suffering, and robs the peace of the most innocent and vulnerable: children. Not with children! No type of violence should be an option to achieve a purpose. No one should be abused, humiliated, or manipulated. As a human right, no matter how utopian it may sound, we all have the option to pursue well-being and happiness. It's not fair to be under an unjust and tyrannical abuser that lacks developed emotional intelligence. Children are a blessing, not an instrument of punishment to be used! Adverse situations in life are resolved by the front and with courage.
