Thomas mixes real-life experiences with the fictional world to create an action-packed thriller full of adventure, love, and betrayal. 'The Ghost and Stone' is the 4th installment in 'A Cameron Stone Action Thriller' series.
"e;The Ghost and Stone"e; brings with it stakes that have never been higher. Failure isn't an option, but that word doesn't exist in Raines' vocabulary anyway. Once again author Thomas LeBrun seamlessly blends modern technology with ancient skills in various martial arts. Using his fourth book in the Cameron Stone Action Thriller series to focus on the art of Ninjutsu, blending invisibility, combat, disguise, and silent movement to take down the enemy. From the very first paragraph the reader is thrown into the action as we witness the reach and power the Ghost has. Striking the highest ranks of the government, Raines and his team are immediately put on their heels after the attack on Secretary Porter. With those in the highest ranks of the government being targeted Raines and his team must use every available resource at their disposal to take town the Ghost. With technology at the forefront, lethal ninjas lurking in the shadows and plans coming together, Raines and his team continue to show why they're the best. This fourth installment provides more of Raines' team with a technological side we've yet to see, but it also brings more poignant emotion as Cameron, Sara, and little Roger continue to embrace their family. As each character provides a crucial role, we begin to feel the pull of their personal lives as well. Chasing shadows, the villains evade capture as they silently slip away, setting up Raines and his team for yet another epic showdown. Mixing martial arts with history and present-day technology with the defense of government leaders, LeBrun shows off his immense knowledge and background of the craft. Layered with secrets and cloaked in decoys, "e;The Ghost and Stone"e; weaves skill with precision and strategy with stealth. Upping the complexity, LeBrun brings to the page his most action-packed thrill ride yet. From the dojang to the ninjutsu roots in Japan, LeBrun famously continues to incorporate training with history and battles with lessons as he draws readers into his books, his characters, and his villainous conquests.

Chapter 3

Shadows at Home, Westport; 24 Hours Ago

Sara watched as Cameron’s taillights disappeared into the night, the darkness swallowing him whole. Her heart ached with an intensity she hadn’t felt before. Holding baby Roger close, she stood at the doorway, willing to be strong. Cameron had always been her rock, but this mission felt different, dangerous, and uncertain.

She turned back into the house, its silence starkly contrasting the turmoil within her. Every corner of their home held memories of happier times when Cameron’s job was just a part of their lives, not a looming threat. She entered the living room and sank into the couch, her mind replaying their conversation.

Earlier that evening, Sara reached out to her closest friend, Serina, desperate for reassurance. As the phone rang, she hoped Serina would understand her fears. “Hello?” Serina’s warm voice answered.

“Serina, it’s Sara. I need to talk,” she said, her voice trembling. “What’s wrong, Sara?” Serina asked, concern evident.

“It’s Cameron. He’s leaving on another assignment, and this one feels different. I have a bad feeling about it. It’s not just the danger; there’s something else. I can’t shake this fear,” Sara confessed, her emotions spilling over.

Serina listened, offering comfort and understanding. “Sara, you know Cameron is one of the best. He’s always come back to you. Trust in his skills and his team. They’re like a family out there.”

“I know,” Sara replied, tears welling up. “But this time feels different. I can’t explain it. I don’t want to lose him. We have plenty of money; we don’t need this.”

“Money isn’t everything, Sara,” Serina said softly. “Cameron loves what he does, and he’s good at it. He’ll come back to you, just like he always does.”

After ending the call, Sara confronted Cameron, her fear spilling into their conversation.

“Cameron,” Sara interrupted softly, her voice betraying her concern; this feels different. It’s not just the danger; it’s something else. I have a bad feeling about this. I would rather you didn’t go on this one. I don’t want to lose you. We have the means to live a comfortable life.” Sara knew that in Cameron’s heart, it wasn’t about the money.

Cameron looked at her, his expression a mix of understanding and resolve. “I know,” he said gently, taking her hand. “I feel it, too. But we’ve faced tough odds before. We’ll get through this.”

Though meant to comfort, his words did little to ease her worry. She nodded, trying to find solace in his assurance, but her intuition, often a reliable guide, sent her warning signals that were hard to ignore.

It wasn’t just the apparent danger of the mission that unsettled her; it was the unknowns, the shadows that this Ghost character seemed to be shrouded in.

As she watched Cameron prepare, going through a familiar routine that had once been part of their daily lives, the act did little to ease her growing dread. They were both in tears when he finally stood by the door, ready to leave.

“I love you,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I wish you didn’t have to go.”

“I love you, too,” Cameron replied, his voice thick with emotion. “I promise I’ll come back to you and Roger.”

As Cameron left to join Raines and the team, Sara stood at the doorway, holding Roger close. Her eyes followed Cameron until he disappeared from view. She whispered a silent prayer for his safe return, her heart heavy with an unfamiliar fear.

The night was darker than usual as Sara closed the door. The house’s quiet starkly contrasted with the noise of her thoughts. She moved to the nursery, where Roger’s innocent eyes looked up at her. She smiled weakly, drawing strength from her son. For his sake, she had to believe Cameron would return.

As she rocked Roger to sleep, Sara’s mind wandered to the past missions Cameron had undertaken. Each time, he had returned, often bruised but always triumphant. This mission, though, felt like a storm brewing on the horizon unseen but felt deep within.

The hours passed slowly, each tick of the clock echoing her fears. She checked her phone repeatedly, hoping for a message from Cameron, something to ease her mind. But the silence was unyielding, her worries growing with each passing minute.

Sara stood by the window, looking out into the night. She couldn’t shake the feeling that this mission was different, that the shadows surrounding the Ghost were more dangerous than any Cameron had faced before. She prayed that his skills and the bond with his team would be enough to bring him back safely.

As dawn approached, the first light of day brought a sliver of hope. She held onto it tightly, knowing she had to stay strong for Cameron, Roger, and herself. The fight wasn’t just out there in the world of espionage and danger; it was here, in their home, in her heart, battling the fear that threatened to consume her.

Sara whispered a final prayer as she closed her eyes, “Please, bring him back to us.”

Let’s continue. Sara asked Serina to use her extraordinary skills to monitor Raines and Cameron so they could all return alive.

The first light of dawn brought a sliver of hope to Sara, but it did little to ease the tight knot of fear in her chest. As she went through her morning routine, her thoughts remained fixed on Cameron and the dangerous mission ahead. Desperation pushed her to reach out to Serina again, hoping her friend’s extraordinary skills could provide some assurance.

Sara called Serina’s number, but the phone felt heavier in her hand than usual. After a few rings, Serina’s familiar voice answered, “Sara, how are you holding up?”

“Not well,” Sara admitted, her voice trembling. “Serina, I need a favor. I know this is a lot to ask, but can you keep an eye on Raines and Cameron? Make sure they all come back alive?”

Serina paused, understanding the gravity of Sara’s request. Serina was not just a close friend; like Cheetah, she was an exceptional hacker with a network of contacts that extended into some of the most secure corners of the intelligence community.

“I’ll do everything I can,” Serina replied firmly. “I’ll monitor their movements and keep you updated. You know I’ll look after them like my own family.”

Sara felt a wave of relief wash over her. “Thank you, Serina. I don’t know what I’d do without you; I’m glad we have become friends.”

“Don’t worry, Sara. We’ll get through this. Stay strong, and likewise on meeting each other.” Serina reassured her before ending the call.

A short time later, all parties were in Washington, D.C., setting up their own C.P., each understanding their roles. While not on the same level as Cheetah, Serina immediately set to work, her fingers flying over her keyboard as she tapped into her network. She accessed satellite feeds, surveillance cameras, and communication logs, piecing together a real-time map of Raines and Cameron’s mission. Her eyes scanned for anomalies, any sign that might indicate danger.

Meanwhile, Cameron and Raines were deep into their operation, acutely aware of the additional protection they were providing, like Serina’s services. They moved cautiously through the city’s shadows, each step calculated, each decision critical.

Constantly vigilant, Cameron felt a strange comfort knowing Sara had spoken to Serina. He trusted Serina’s skills implicitly. If anyone could provide an extra set of eyes in the darkness, it was her.

“Raines, I’ve got a feeling we’re not alone out here,” Cameron said, his voice low but firm. Raines looked at him, eyebrows raised. “You think the Ghost has more operatives in play?”

“Possibly. But I was thinking about Serina. Sara asked her to keep an eye on us,” Cameron explained.

Raines nodded, understanding the depth of Sara’s concern. “Serina’s good. If she’s watching our backs, it’s a huge advantage, and we have Leo undercover in the city.”

As they moved through the city, Serina’s updates flowed steadily. She alerted them to potential threats and guided them through safe routes; her efforts a silent but crucial part of their mission. Her extraordinary skills allowed her to anticipate dangers before they could manifest, giving Cameron and Raines the upper hand.

At one point, as Cameron and Raines were about to enter a seemingly abandoned warehouse, Serina’s voice crackled in their earpieces. “Hold on. I’ve picked up movement inside, very heavily guarded.”

Raines adjusted their plan accordingly. “Thanks, Serina. We’ll find another way in.” Cameron looked around. Serina was gone like the wind. Cameron heard some noise on the other side of the wall, and the door opened; there stood Serina.

Inside the warehouse, they found a makeshift command center, a hub of activity that confirmed their suspicions about multiple attackers. Thanks to Serina, most of the questionable occupants were unconscious on the floor. Documents and blueprints scattered on tables hinted at more planned attacks or places of interest, which Raines and company would be turning over to Government agencies.

“Looks like we’ve found their...
