A madman is using nanomachine technology to 'cull the herd' of humanity. His demented mind has determined that only those deemed worthy shall remain. Gradually he begins pursuing his campaign to purify the gene pool for his New Eden. Public knowledge of this intended genocide, along with the technology behind it, will only cause widespread panic and chaos. The need for secrecy in eliminating this threat is considered extremely paramount. Enter the Dogs of Warr. Battling an unseen foe of a known enemy creates quite a challenge for the team as they fight not only for their own fate, but for that of the entire human race!

TR grew up in a small town in west central Wisconsin. One of those small towns that if you blink when passing through, you'll miss it. But it was a life experience he wouldn't trade for the world. Watching the aircraft from nearby Ft. McCoy fly overhead got him interested in both the military and aviation. In his 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps he served as an aircraft ground support equipment technician, a Communications Officer, and a CH-53E Helicopter Pilot. He is currently at his 'dream job' working in the aviation field with a major logistics company in his newly adopted hometown of Louisville, KY. TR's start in writing began when he mentioned to his wife he'd always wanted to write a book and she told him, 'go for it!' The subsequent journey has been one of hard work, a steep learning curve, and the realization of a passion for writing. The first incarnation of the Dogs of Warr were comic book characters drawn into a sketchbook in 1986. The debut novel was a way to bring those characters to life, giving them depth and dimension. While only a 'part time' author, it's become a passion for TR and the ideas keep flowing, eventually winding up on paper. He hopes that others enjoy the ride that he's taking his characters on!!
It starts with the Devil's Ghost assaulting the black site where his former cyber-operative is being held. He releases his man so they can start rebuilding Gregor's fortune and forces to seek revenge on Warr and the Dogs. Operations are returning to normal at the Kennel after the assault by the Devil's Ghost a few weeks ago that debilitated one member of the Dogs and critically injured a family member. The newest genius, Kid, is acclimating well, interacting seamlessly with Brain while the team starts respecting him more for his intelligence. Life doesn't stay quiet for long though as a new threat arises from the shadows. A radical racist billionaire genius wants to cull the "e;dregs of humanity and give Mother Earth a fresh start."e; He is orchestrating economic downfalls coupled with a pandemic of a designer bioweapon he has his engineering company manufacturing underground. He is picking and choosing who will or will not receive their salvation. His private army is slowly growing in size near his headquarters in a New Orleans suburb. The security around him is very tight and that's one of the reasons the Dogs are called in to eliminate him. The other reason, and the twist is that they must also prevent the dissemination and spread of this designer nanomachine virus, HADES as well as any knowledge of it from being divulged to the public. A skirmish pits the Dogs against the private army of the racist radical and his new band of followers. A stealthy infiltration by the Dogs through some very complex and tight security gets them in close enough to proceed with their mission. It's a race against time and a small army to prevent high tech chaos from erupting globally. The threat is very real and entirely unseen. Once again the Dogs of Warr are called upon to save humanity from a vile threat to its very existence.

Not just another day in the office

(Two days ago) Steve had been pursuing Cathy for quite some time. He was discreet about it because they worked for the same organization, although not in the same division. He was so discreet about it, she barely knew his name. The two of them were both analysts for the National Security Agency, so keeping secrets and being inconspicuous was all part and parcel of the job. Nevertheless, Steve was getting impatient. He wanted her to notice him, and he wanted it now. Seeing her sitting at a cafeteria table by herself, he steeled his nerve and approached cautiously.

“Hi, Cathy,” he opened sheepishly. “This seat taken?”

“Not at all. Feel free.” She responded with her arm as well, signaling all clear. It’s about damn time he made his move, she thought. I’m sick of being coy with him.

Sitting down, the technician shuffled back and forth on his chair nervously. Okay, dude, he thought, you got yourself an opening. Don’t blow it.

“That was a horrible situation in Alabama, wasn’t it?” he began.

“It sure was.” She inwardly rolled her eyes. That’s the best line you got, she wondered.

“Can I tell you something? It’s been driving me crazy not saying anything to anybody else, but hey, we both work here, right?”

“Sure, go ahead, but be careful. If it’s too classified, I might have to have you killed,” she joked.

A nervous giggle later, he continued.

So, you know the identical-looking tragedies that hit both the black church in Alabama and the Jewish synagogue in Texas three weeks before then? Well, I was reviewing my sensor reports and I found that minutes before it was reported that all the people in both locations started keeling over, I got a hit on the thermal register of a significant event. I don’t know if it’s related. It struck me as being sort of odd, but it’s a little too much of a coincidence, don’t you think?”

Cathy let his words sink in, her brow furrowing. Steve worked in the thermal imagery department reading satellite feeds from all over the world, looking for anomalies and heat-related events, i.e., unauthorized nuclear tests. She worked in the radio frequency department monitoring satellite feeds for unusual RF bursts or patterns. She was recalling how she had seen something peculiar on her sensor reports as well. She hadn’t given it too much thought until just now.

“Can you get the exact time for those spikes, Steve?”

“I-I-I think so. Why?”

“Because I think you might be on to something. Why don’t you get your printouts and come up to my desk? I have to take a look at something, and I’d like to compare notes with you.”

“Sure. Give me about fifteen minutes to print everything and another five to get over to your side of the building.”

“Great! See you then!” She got up from her seat, making haste to depart the area. Her mind was going a hundred miles an hour. What if the two events were related? What was the significance if they were?

Steve sat there for a second, stunned. Hoping to start a meaningful conversation, he had just gotten an invite to her cubicle. He smiled and got up to throw away their trash. You sly old dog, here’s your way in, he congratulated himself.

It didn’t take long for the pair to compare notes, looking at timestamps of activity spikes on their respective readouts to see there was something correlating between these two events. In both cases the thermal event occurred, followed by a huge spike in RF activity exactly 5.15 seconds later. It was while they were lining things up, that Steve noticed the next anomaly.

“Hey, look at this spike right here.” He pointed to a blip on the readout. “What do you make of this?”

Cathy peered closely at the image on the screen. It was a similar burst to the initial one, varied slightly in frequency. Looking at both events, it happened exactly ten hours and two seconds after the first anomaly. It was at the same geographic location so that made it seem even stranger.

“I don’t know what these are, but this is all way too coincidental to be … coincidental. They’ve got to be related in some way. How, I don’t know, but I think we need to run this up the chain. It might unlock some answers as to what really happened in those places,” she said excitedly to her unintentional partner.

“Let’s get some slides together, present them to each of our department heads, and see if they can get us on the boss’s calendar. I’ve got a feeling he’s gonna want to see this,” he replied, the giddiness in his voice obvious.

An hour later, the duo was presenting their findings first to Steve’s boss, then along with Steve’s boss, to Cathy’s. The two department heads agreed that there was something significant in the different types of events, where they happened, and the timing of both.

“This is good stuff, you two,” Cathy’s department head, Todd Rutledge, lauded. “I think we need to get this higher up ASAP.”

“I concur,” Steve’s boss, Dave Blackwell, agreed. “It may, in the grand scheme of things, end up being nothing, but things are lining up way too neat to be just a fluke. I’ll call the executive assistant and get it set up at the Director’s earliest possible convenience. In the meantime, you two, focus on cleaning up the slides, boiling them down to just the pertinent facts, and we’ll get you some recommended courses of action to put in the slide deck.”

“Roger that, sir,” Seve replied, Cathy nodding her head.

The two supervisors walked away, rapidly exchanging ideas for the COAs they would be sending to their two analysts. The options would range from a massive response to a bare minimum response and a couple options in between.

Steve was beaming with excitement. Here was his chance to spend some more time with the object of his attention. Don’t blow this chance, he thought. He reminded himself to play it cool. The mission was the priority. Screw that up and he’d be sent to the darkest corner of the building, languishing in some forgotten section of the NSA that only saw the outside once in a blue moon.

“Well, guess we better get at it,” he stumbled, visibly nervous.

“Yeah, we better. The sooner we get done, the sooner we can get to that drink you were going to ask me about,” she said, exuding confidence that belied her meek demeanor.

Steve sat there, too stunned to move. Yes, that had been his intention from the beginning, but he had wanted to ask her, not the other way around. As he felt the color drain from his face, he recaptured some of his composure.

“Yes. The sooner, the better.”

The pair of NSA techs worked for an hour on their inputs for the presentation, then incorporated the information given to them by their bosses. All told, it was just over a couple hours before they were done for the evening, getting that drink as promised.

It ended up being an early evening for the couple though, as the only opening on the Director’s calendar was at six A.M. the next morning. The smell and taste of coffee in the secure meeting antechamber of the Director’s office was welcomed by all the senses of the half-dozen attendees. Steve and Cathy presented the data to the Director, Deputy Director, and the four departmental representatives, the two supervisors following the analysts with their COAs to the senior leaders. The dust had barely settled when the Director spoke.

“People, pack this up tight in a digital briefcase for me. I’m personally taking this to the Director of the FBI. They have the lead on the investigation into both events and I think this is something they need to know about. Make sure all your contact information is listed so the investigating agents can get in touch with you if necessary. It’s my understanding these have been treated as biologic attacks, but now this might shed some new light on the investigation. Good work, people. Now go get those files ready. I’m leaving in thirty minutes.”

The two NSA employees and their Department Heads reconvened in front of the Director’s office twenty minutes after their dismissal. The Director breezed past them on his way out, not intentionally being rude. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on his mind.

Smiling, the two supervisors looked at their subordinates. They were proud of what their employees had accomplished. It was good for the agency and good for the country.

“I don’t know what Dave thinks, but I think you’ve earned a day off, Cathy. I know you guys were here later than normal last night and had an early return. Go ahead and get on out of here. See you tomorrow.”

“I second that motion, Steve,” Mr. Blackwell chimed in.

The two department heads pivoted and walked off together, leaving the two techs, standing in the passageway, a little stunned. This didn’t happen often at the NSA, if ever. Looking at each other, Steve felt emboldened and spoke...
