As it happens in life, a high of emotions followed by confusion and despair, when I realized for the first time and with full awareness that this love and my deep feelings were simply not reciprocated to the extent that I shared them! The uncertainty that follows and despite all the heartache, getting up and trying again. After the exhilarating phase of falling in love for the first time, there is disillusionment. The more I experienced this and the older I got, the more painful my experiences and heartaches became, both emotionally and physically.
Half a life and half a century. A lot of experiences, a lot of history in this short time. Growing up in the former eastern part of the city of Berlin and still “emigrated” before the fall of the Wall. Having built a new life and although often difficult and painful, always searching for ones self. Knowing from a young age that you are different and that, despite all your efforts, you never really fit in. Which leads you on a lonely life path of self-knowledge and ultimately to this intermediate goal of life's journey. If a picture is worth a thousand words – then a poem speaks volumes. So much that can be found in a single sentence, even in a single word. And it always amazes me how much emotion can be expressed through a poem, if you open your heart.
