He finds an unlikely ally in Evelyn Yates, an archivist haunted by the Court's past, and together they delve into the city's hidden history, unearthing the roots of its fear.  They uncover a network of others scarred by the Court: Caleb, a former councilman consumed by guilt, and Naomi, a coder whose creations have become instruments of oppression.  United by their shared pain, they ignite a spark of resistance in a city choked by silence.
Their rebellion starts small, a coded word, a shared glance, a defiant act in the face of pervasive fear. But these whispers of dissent begin to unravel the Court's carefully constructed web of control. As their movement gains traction, the Court retaliates, tightening its grip and plunging Krenovar into a fever pitch of paranoia.
During the chilling spectacle of the annual Festival of Silence, Kovan and his allies make their final stand.  In a daring gamble, they plan to shatter the city's silence, to expose the Court's lies, and to awaken the courage buried deep within the hearts of its citizens.  But the Court, sensing its power threatened, unleashes its full might.
