Thorne's boundless enthusiasm and fantastical inventions provide her with tools disguised as Victorian contraptions - a modified magnifying glass that analyzes genetic structures, a self-filling inkwell concealing a portable refrigeration unit. Bellweather's intimate knowledge of forgotten flora unlocks the secrets of hidden botanical treasures, offering Evelyn glimpses into a world on the brink of extinction.
