After a slew of killings in Montford, Violet Thorn is called on to investigate. But with findings not adding up, she wonders if more than one culprit is to blame...
Make hell for leather and stop a vicious killer from striking again.Whilst visiting an injured friend in hospital, Lady Violet Thorn overhears a young woman accusing a married couple of murdering her parents and stealing their home, Maccabee House.
Things soon escalate when body parts are left scattered around the town, sparking rumours that a cannibal is on the loose. A sex worker is then found brutalised, and Violet receives at her address a mannequin, resembling herself, stabbed through the heart.
With the town of Montford in meltdown, Violet knows that the answers wait at Maccabee House, that lies in the shadow of the old tannery. But with the killer's sights firmly on her, can she make it out alive?
An enthralling and gripping Victorian crime caper from the bestselling author of the Gower Street Detective series.
