Rocky is the unofficial mascot of Incline Village on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, this book's setting. Also voted in Best of Tahoe, Most Adorable in the Doggie Featherweight Class (2-10 pounds). He is an unusually observant and insightful Toy Schnauzer. Spending most of nearly every day with his Pops, he really watches. Watches people. Recognizes their personalities and behaviors, good and not so much, and hears the stories they tell, from the tragic and the humorous, to profound discussions of life. This is the story of Rocky arriving in Tahoe as a pup from a farm in Utah, and learning about the joys of simple life as well as the deep aches of senseless tragedies. Of his unwavering support for his Pops, who fellow humans know as Nick, and the two women, Mary and Jess, who each become his beloved mother, of his disfigured little birdie buddy, Beakster .... and, of course, countless other bipeds his sweet spirit touches.

TOFER & ROCKY: Tofer grew up in Paradise, yep this little village. This is his second novel set in this location, but now in collaboration with his ever faithful Schnauzer, Rocky. Pour Choices was his first solo novel, and Hair of the Dog continues with much of the same cast, though its pages stand alone without having read the former. They live in this same small town with Yavon, Rocky's Mum. Most people proclaim with shaking heads that Tofer, like, really married up.
