Discover the Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month that everyone is talking about this Christmas - the fun and festive murder mystery that you won't be able to put down.
'A laugh-out-loud must for the Christmas stocking' Irish Independent
‘Warm and funny, with twists galore.’ Stuart MacBride
'Had me laughing aloud, time and again' Yorkshire Life
A festive mystery.
Yorkshire, 1953. It's nearly Christmas, and Detective Frank Grasby is investigating a puzzling murder in the remote village of Uthley’s Bay. A fisherman has been found dead on the beach, with a stocking wound tight round his throat.
A winter wonderland with no escape.
Hundreds of pairs of stockings, in neat cellophane bags, soon wash up on the shore. Any remaining Christmas cheer goes up in smoke when the local innkeeper is murdered, and the detective is left chasing false leads in the snow.
A race to save Christmas.
To make matters worse, Frank can’t stop thinking about stockings. Why does everyone seem to be enjoying strangely high standards of hosiery, even beneath their oilskins? And how can he solve the murder when everyone in the village is a suspect?
Readers love The Christmas Stocking Murders:
‘Atmospheric, amusing, a book to read by a fireside.’ *****
‘This book is a delight.’ *****
‘I found myself chuckling along.’ *****
‘A wonderful page-turner.’ *****
‘These books are a tonic.’ *****
‘A Christmas joy. *****
