Margaret Dickinson's novel of Lincolnshire life is a passionate story of loss, hardship and pure determination
Emma Forrest has waited three long years to welcome home the man she loves from the horror of the trenches but now her father's bitter feud with Jamie Metcalfe's family threatens everything she has dreamed of.

Knowing that her father, Harry Forrest, will go to his grave wishing she were a boy, and now devastated by Jamie's coldness, Emma clings resolutely to the memory of her beloved grandfather, Charlie, and his hopes for the mill he built with his own hands. Somehow, in spite of all Harry's scheming and the disastrous marriage she finds herself in as a result, Emma will make sure that the mill has a future - with a Forrest at the helm.

Born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Margaret Dickinson moved to the coast at the age of seven and so began her love for the sea and the Lincolnshire landscape. Her ambition to be a writer began early and she had her first novel published at the age of twenty-five. This was followed by many further titles including Plough the Furrow, Sow the Seed and Reap the Harvest, which make up her Lincolnshire Fleethaven Trilogy. She is also the author of Fairfield Hall, Jenny's War and The Clippie Girls. Margaret is a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller. Susan Jameson is highly respected as a stage and screen actress. Her television credits include Heartbeat, The Bill, Band of Gold, Circle of Deceit, Boon, and Coronation Street . She works extensively in the theatre, including a national tour of Pride and Prejudice, and has much experience reading audio books.
