His oeuvre is extensive, encompassing burlesques, farces, comedies, and novels. The most enduring of his literary endeavors has arguably been his contributions to the satirical magazine Punch, of which he became editor in 1880, a role he upheld until 1906, bringing wit and a sharp eye to the esteemed publication.
