Love and the Human Spirit, is a fantasy romance novel that takes place in a world after death. Carol Mendez Landau, the main character in the book, hikes on a trail that she thinks is near her home in southern California. She discovers that she is barefoot and wearing a robe. She hears a creepy voice informing her she is dead, and prays fervently to Jesus for salvation. The night passes and Carol finds a friend, also dead, June Brown Jackson. Carol and June find that the spooks leave them alone as they prayerfully review their earthly lives. This world, called Kamaloka, is where most of the story takes place. Carol's purpose on Kamaloka is to complete a review of her earthly life. When that is complete she can translate to the heavenly world, Devachan, a world of perfection and bliss. Spiritual principles and virtues are presented in the novel as the protagonist is tutored in one virtue after another. Independent investigation of reality, the oneness of mankind, generosity, forgiveness, sobriety, chastity, and many more are modeled and discussed among the characters of the book. I began writing Love and the Human Spirit after being in telepathic communication with a recently deceased friend. I saw him alone in a desert landscape. Why don't you try levitation? I suggested telepathically. Soon after, I began writing this book about the next world, where meditation levitation is the favorite mode of transportation. I have meditated and had mystical experiences for many years. I have studied Theosophy, Anthroposophy, Yoga, Christianity, Buddhism, Sufism and the Baha'i Faith. I was led to and through this writing. I hope you enjoy reading Love and the Human Spirit as much as I enjoyed writing it.
