With the two volumes of this edition all preserved writings of the rhetor Gregorios Antiochos (ca. 1130 – ca. 1200) are made accessible to the public for the first time. His panegyrics, funeral orations, consolatory speeches and letters are important literary and linguistic documents, that provide an excellent insight into the culture and society of the Komnenan period. The edition, equipped with an extensive introduction, contains overall 35 of Antiochosʹ texts, of which seven have remained unedited until now, with a german translation and comprehensive indices.

Mit dieser zweibändigen Edition werden erstmals sämtliche erhaltenen Schriften des Gregorios Antiochos (ca. 1130 – ca. 1200) der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Antiochos, der in den letzten Jahrzehnten verstärkt Beachtung gefunden hat, war ein Rhetor und hochstehender Beamter der Komnenenzeit, dessen Lob-, Grab- und Trostreden sowie Epistulae bedeutende literarische und sprachgeschichtliche Dokumente sind und einen vorzüglichen Einblick in die Kultur und Gesellschaft seiner Epoche bieten. Die mit einer ausführlichen Einleitung versehene Edition enthält insgesamt 35 Schriften des Antiochos, wovon sieben bis dato unveröffentlicht sind, mitsamt deutscher Übersetzung und Index nominum propriorum, Index locorum, Incipit- und Desinit-Register.
