The existing Zeng's diary began on the first day of the first month in 1839, ended on the day of his death, that is, the fourth day of the 2nd month in 1872, the time span spanned thirty-four years.Perhaps the early Zeng's perseverance was not enough, maybe it was some interval because of the complexity of the official affairs, or lost because of migration, or burned because of the war, and other reasons. There were some diaries missing in thirty-four years, and the text that has been passed down to the present day is about 1.3 million words.The Chinese Book Company printed its manuscript in 1909.The manuscript was brought to Taiwan by his fourth generation grandson Baozhen and Yuenong in the late 1940s. Later, it was donated to the Taiwan government and collected in "e;the Palace Museum"e; in Taipei.In the mid-1960s, it was photocopied and published by the Taiwan Student Bookstore in the book titled Handwritten Diary of Zeng Wen Zheng Gong (Zeng Guofan).
