A charming anthology, in which the poet reflects on aspects of life, past and present. Each poem is introduced with a few words of reflection on its origin, giving the reader an idea of why these particular lines were put together as they were.
Emotions feature strongly, from a child's memory of worrying over her unusual name, through 'empty nest syndrome' to the death of a pet, the view through a tree and the thoughts and fears of a mother whose daughter goes to war. In between are observations on nature and the earth as the author sees it: her feelings about childhood, birds and woodlands are pictured, in words, to show us her own beautiful inner world.
The book is beautifully illustrated with photographs, as one is attached to each and every poem, chosen to show the history or emotion behind each one.
