Symptoms began to include muscle spasms and pins and needles in her limbs forcing her to give up her passion for badminton and restricting her to line judging at major tournaments. Sue was educated at Oldborough Manor Secondary School, Maidstone. She achieved several passes at 'O' Level, then went on to Technical College gaining 2 'A' Level passes. After several failures in the job market she joined her father's Law firm on a temporary basis, but six years later qualified as a Legal Executive. Upon her father's retirement she joined the Chief Prosecuting Solicitors Dept. of the Kent County Council, which later became the Crown Prosecution Service.
