The third volume of this exposition of Christian doctrine focuses on the church in the framework of the doctrine of the Spirit as an eschatological gift that aims at the accomplishment of salvation at the end of time. Within the treatment of the concept of the church Pannenberg also elucidates the notion of one's individual salvation through faith, grace and justification. This is embedded in an analysis of sacramental theology. The study focuses mainly on the individual Christian's partaking in salvation. Church and sacraments can only be perceived as signs anticipating future fulfilment of salvation.
