Uses some of the oldest teaching devices known to man - allegory and story-telling - to put across some of the theories as to how people learn and are taught. This work contains tales which offer an insight into learning and teaching. It is intended for teachers and pupils alike.
Through his books, articles and tapes, lectures and clinics, Paul Belasik has explored practically every king of training problem encountered in the horse world. Until now, one area has remained undocumented, although it was constantly under observation and analysis - namely, the process of teaching and learning the skills of riding. In "The Song of Horses", the final book in the trilogy which began with "Riding Towards the Light", Belasik uses some of the oldest teaching devices known to man - allegory and story-telling - to put across some of the current theories as to how people learn and are taught. Fascinating in their own fight, each tale offers an insight into learning and teaching - each different, each valid. Through them we meet unforgettable teachers, and maybe find clues as to how to teach or learn about the art of riding. For Belasik, "The Songs of Horses" represents the completion of a circle, the last phrase in three decades of research: the trained apprentice must now train the apprentices. "The Songs of Horses" will provide food for thought for teachers and pupils alike; and for the open-minded it could put a fresh slant on every riding lesson.

Paul Belasik is a graduate of Cornell University and has written many articles on horses and horsemanship. He gives clinics, lectures and demonstrations internationally, and trains a large cross-section of clients at his Pennsylvania Riding Academy where, in particular, his celebrated short courses concentrating on the rider's seat and position have brought him both acclaim and students from all over the world.
