Jorge Lorenzo really came of age in 2010 when he took the MotoGP season by storm and became the runaway World Champion, winning nine of the season's 18 races, finishing on the podium 16 times and accumulating the biggest points score ever achieved in the championship. And he finally toppled team-mate Valentino Rossi's domination. Here, then, is the third edition of Lorenzo's quirky, insightful and highly readable autobiography, updated to cover the 2010 season in full.
Jorge Lorenzo's collaborator on this book is well-known Spanish journalist Ernest Riveras Tobia, who is lead commentator on MotoGP for the Spanish national television network TVE, and lives in Barcelona. The English translation is the work of Matt Roberts, a journalist and one of BBC TV's MotoGP commentary team.
With 25 per cent more text than the previous edition, this autobiography has been updated to include Lorenzo's own account of his superb 2010 MotoGP season, in which he won nine races and beat team-mate Valentino Rossi in the World Championship. How Lorenzo reached the top from working-class roots, encouraged by his father from infancy. The winner of two successive 250cc World Championships, in 2006 and 2007. Having signed for Yamaha, his 2008 MotoGP season saw a start of unprecedented brilliance for a rookie, with three consecutive pole positions and, in the third race, his first victory. Huge crashes - the worst a massive 'highside' at Laguna Seca in 2008 - and accompanying injuries punctuated his first two MotoGP seasons. But increasing maturity brought four MotoGP race wins in 2009 and then his sensational dominance of the 2010 season.
