Norton Interactive Aural Skills (NIAS) plays the musical exercises in their entirety or in a variety of partial and comparative formats. After listening to the examples, students then complete the exercises on staff paper. The program features helpful hints that supply partial or complete information and guidance for each exercise. Students can work at their own pace, checking their answers along the way. The program generates progress reports that can be viewed and printed for instructors.
