An oral history of Bob Dylan in the words of over 400 fans
More than 400 fans, friends and colleagues tell their stories of seeing, knowing and working with Bob Dylan, from his hometown of Hibbing, Minnesota right through to finding Jesus - with first hand accounts of seeing him live from the smallest of venues to festivals and arenas.

From early recording sessions through the 1966 tour, from the rural seclusion of Woodstock to turning gospel, this book reveals a contemporary view of the younger Dylan. Fans, friends and colleagues who were there take you back to an amazing era with personal photographs, memorabilia, anecdotes and stories that have never been published before.

Neil Cossar was guitarist in the late 70s group The Cheaters. Signed to Parlophone Records but never troubling the charts, The Cheaters were named ‘hardest working band of the year’ by BBC Radio 1 after playing 321 gigs and recording an album in 1982!  During the 90s, Neil worked as a radio DJ in Manchester, UK, before moving into music PR. His client list included Def Leppard, INXS, Joan Baez, Glen Campbell, Jean Michel Jarre, Natalie Imbruglia, The Hollies, Feist, The Stranglers, Barenaked Ladies and UB40. Neil launched his music trivia site This Day in Music.com in 1999. His published works include This Day In Music (Omnibus, 2010), Bob Dylan – The Day I Was There (Spenwood, 2025), David Bowie – A People’s History (Spenwood, 2025), Bruce Springsteen – The Day I Was There (Spenwood 2025) and The Jam – The Day I Was There (with Richard Houghton) (Spenwood, 2025). Neil is presently playing music again, touring with The Guilty Men (theguiltymen.co.uk).
