This book surveys the most significant published materials relating to William Byrd. It presents a collection of all-new original essays covering everything from feminist to postcolonial readings of his play as well as source queries and analysis of historical performances of the play.
Richard Turbet is an Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Aberdeen and a Fellow of the Academy of Saint Cecilia. He is the author and editor of many books and articles about Byrd, Tudor music, chapbooks and music librarianship. His book Tudor music: a resource and information guide was awarded the C.B. Oldman prize for 1994.
