Tokyo After Dark documents photographer Eren Sarigul's decades-long love affair with Japan's capital city and its vibrant culture at night. Eren's love for photography sprung to life following a 2014 trip to Japan. Since that first 2014 trip, Eren has traveled to Japan from his native London every year, capturing the people, sites, and feelings that make Tokyo such a magical city.
Eren's upbringing as a Londoner from an ethnic background who grew up in a working-class south London council estate exposed him to a myriad of different cultures. Despite feeling like an outsider, he was accepted into the melting pot that is London, and this feeling of being "outside" drove him to think outside the box and beyond the norms. Eren brings this desire and drive to his photography, capturing the feeling of being an outsider looking in through his images of people and places around Tokyo. Eren's long-standing appreciation of Japan’s geography, its cultures, and its people are evident on every page.
