• A tragic personal story told through photos and
fragments
• A powerful portrayal of the struggles of a tragic past
Call Me Lola is the moving personal archive of acclaimed Israeli-American photo-artist and documentarian Loli Kantor. For over 20 years, Kantor has been excavating the family archives assembled by her Polish-born father, a doctor and political activist. Her mother Lola - who died after giving birth to her and who bears the same name as Kantor - lies at the heart of the project: a woman manifested through images and stories rather than direct memory. Deeply personal, the project speaks to the wider upheavals of the 20th century: war and displacement, love and loss, trauma and bereavement.
LOLI KANTOR (*1952) is an Israeli-American photographer whose work centers on personal and cultural memory. She lives and works in Fort Worth, Texas.
