Brenda Niall is one of Australia's foremost biographers. She hasbeen Reader in English at Monash University, where she gavecourses in Australian literature, American literature, biographyand autobiography; has held visiting fellowships at theUniversity of Michigan, Yale University and the AustralianNational University, and is a Fellow of the Australian Academyof the Humanities.
