In zwanzig repräsentativen Fotoalben dokumentierte der große österreichische Schauspieler, Operettentenor und Regisseur Hubert Marischka (1882–1959) zu Lebzeiten sämtliche Aspekte seines Bühnenschaffens. Dieser persönlich angelegte Querschnitt spiegelt nicht nur ein halbes Jahrhundert Theatergeschichte von der k.u.k-Ära bis in die Aufbruchsjahre der 1950er; die Alben sind auch ein eindrücklicher Beleg für die Entwicklungen innerhalb der Bühnenfotografie.
Der Band zeigt eine Auswahl mit den Höhepunkten aus den Fotoalben und wird ergänzt durch Fotografien zweier spektakulärer Revuen der 1920er Jahre, an denen Marischka mitwirkte.
Roland Fischer-Briand ist Leiter der Fotosammlung im Theatermuseum im Palais Lobkowitz, Wien. In twenty representative photo albums, the great Austrian actor, operetta tenor and director Hubert Marischka (1882-1959) documented all aspects of his stage work during his lifetime. This personal cross-section not only reflects half a century of theatre history from the k.u.k. era to the early years of the 1950s; the albums are also impressive evidence of the developments within stage photography.
The volume shows a selection of highlights from the photo albums and is supplemented by photographs of two spectacular revues of the 1920s in which Marischka participated.
