Tirée d'un Royal illustrated Atlas publié en Écosse, cette représentation essentiellement hydrographique des deux moitiés de la terre telles qu'elles étaient connues à l'époque fait la part belle aux grands fleuves et à leurs bassins-versants mais n'oublie pas, en frise, de représenter les plus hauts reliefs terrestres que pouvaient connaître et mesurer les scientifiques du temps. ce qui nous permet de mesurer le chemin des connaissances parcouru en 150 ans.
The World in Hemispheres
Taken from a royal illustrated atlas published in scotland, this essentially hydrographic representation of the two halves of the earth as they were known at the time gives pride of place to the great rivers and their watersheds but does not omit, in the frieze, to represent the highest terrestrial reliefs that were known and measured by the scientists of the time. it allows us to measure the progress of knowledge over the last 150 years.
