A final exhibition showed works created in Bonn, documented the working process and the individual works by the young artists, and reflected about the outcomes of the collaborations and the specifics of their local contexts. Materials, field recordings, sketches, traces, sound cartographies, ideas, artifacts, devices, and atmospheres: what and how did the young sound artists hear and what did they experience during their time together? What remains? This publication documents and reflects the process and the results of the residencies with text contributions of the participants and mentors, countless images, and interviews. Das internationale Austauschprojekt «sonotopia – the sonic explorers» von «bonn hoeren» schickte im Auftrag der Beethovenstiftung für Kunst und Kultur anlässlich des Beethoven-Jubiläumsjahres und zum Abschluss von «bonn hoeren» sechs junge europäische Klangkünstler*innen auf künstlerische Expeditionen in vier Städte auf vier Kontinenten. Nach Residenzen mit jeweils zwei jungen lokalen Klangkünstler*innen in den Städten Teheran, Dakar und Valparaíso/Bonn kamen alle zwölf Künstler*innen noch einmal zum Finale in Bonn zusammen.
Eine abschliessende Ausstellung in Bonn zeigte die entstandenen Werke, dokumentierte den Arbeitsprozess und die einzelnen Arbeiten der jungen Künstler*innen und reflektierte die Ergebnisse der Zusammenarbeit und die Besonderheiten der lokalen Kontexte. Materialien, Feldaufnahmen, Skizzen, Spuren, Klangkartografien, Ideen, Artefakte, Geräte und Atmosphären: Was und wie haben die jungen Klangkünstler*innen gehört und was haben sie während ihrer gemeinsamen Zeit erlebt? Was bleibt? Diese Publikation dokumentiert und reflektiert den Prozess und die Ergebnisse der Residenzen vor Ort mit Textbeiträgen der Teilnehmer*innen und Mentoren, zahlreichen Abbildungen und Interviews.
Carsten Seiffarth lives in Berlin, Germany, and works as a curator and producer for sound installation art and contemporary music since 1991. He curated numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and beyond.
Carsten Stabenow lives in Berlin, Germany, and works as an independent curator, producer, communication designer, and artist on the intersection of artistic production and mediation. He is interested especially in physical, social, and political parameters of space.
