The Covid pandemic: an extraordinary time for everyone. The first lockdown of 2020 brought the world to a halt. For some, it meant a time to get closer to family. For others, the nightmare of domestic abuse. Israeli artist Tali Neeman Sabo and British poet Vivienne Vermes shared their work over the Internet. They found echoes in each other’s stories: it was as if each painting found a poem, and each poem found a painting. They put together this book, expressing in words and in art the joy and pain of being a woman.

Proceeds from The Taste of Dark Blue will go to victims of domestic violence, the large majority of whom are women.

Tali Neeman Sabo is an Israeli artist, illustrator, graphic designer, lecturer and group facilitator. She was partner in a design studio in Jerusalem for many years, exhibited in various exhibitions in Israel and the US, and illustrated Speak Out, Sky! a children’s book on the prevention of childhood sexual abuse. Vivienne Vermes is a British writer and actress of Irish and Hungarian descent who has lived in Paris for thirty years. She has published five collections of poetry and a novel, The Barefoot Road, has won several awards, and has taken part in poetry festivals in venues all over Europe.
