Irgendwann im April 2020 verwandelte sich die 54. Ausgabe des steirischen herbst über Nacht in ein halb-fiktives Medienkonglomerat, einen Sender namens Paranoia TV. Zu den neu in Auftrag gegebenen Arbeiten zählten Spielfilme, „binge-fähige“ Serienformate und Online-Diskussionen in Hülle und Fülle. Die Rolle eines Senders zu übernehmen bedeutete aber nicht nur einen Umzug ins Virtuelle. Präsenz und Absenz sind den Medien stets eingeschrieben; das Fernsehen zelebriert sowohl die Realität als auch deren völlige Abwesenheit. Es ist vielleicht die nächste Plattform, die sich die zeitgenössische Kunst kritisch zu eigen machen kann.
