These Are the Only Times You Have Known präsentiert das Werk von elf internationalen Künstler*innen, die mit dem Arbeitsstipendium Bildende Kunst des Berliner Senats ausgezeichnet wurden. Die Bandbreite der Positionen umfasst die Auseinandersetzung mit verschiedenen Zeitebenen, verborgenen Geschichten, Fragen der Zugehörigkeit und Performativität. Die Frage nach der Sinnstiftung im Jetzt ist dabei ein verbindendes Element der versammelten künstlerischen Werke, deren Spektrum von Gemälden, Fotografien, Drucken und Videoinstallationen bis hin zu Virtual Reality-Arbeiten reicht. Der Titel These Are the Only Times You Have Known unterstreicht die Zeitgenossenschaft der in der Ausstellung versammelten Positionen und rückt zugleich die individuellen künstlerischen Leistungen in den Vordergrund, die jede auf ihre eigene Art Fragen an die Gegenwart, Vergangenheit und Zukunft formulieren.

The search for meaning in the present is an element shared by all of the artistic works presented, whose spectrum ranges from paintings, photographs, prints, and video installations to virtual reality techniques. The title These Are the Only Times You Have Known underscores the contemporaneity of the positions assembled in the exhibition, while at the same time pointing to the individual artistic achievements, each of which formulates questions about the present, past, and future in its own way.
