for SATB, body percussion, & spoons
Gallant's take on this Acadian folksong is lively and engaging, featuring the quintessential elements of the tradition: podorythmie (seated foot-tapping), diddlage (mouth music), and the spoons. With playful vocal slides and energetic rhythmic motifs, this arrangement offers a modern twist on this well-loved melody from the French-Canadian oral tradition. An English (non-singing) translation is included in the leaflet, while a studio recording, pronunciation guides, and an instructional video on playing techniques are accessible through the companion website. Also available in a version for SSAA, body percussion, and spoons.

Dr. Jeanette Gallant is a Canadian musician with over 25 years of diverse experience as a voice teacher, music lecturer, composer, conductor, and performer in Canada, S.E. Asia, and the United Kingdom. She has a doctorate from the University of Oxford, and has held positions at esteemed institutions including the University of Reading, UK, and the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. An accomplished ethnomusicologist, her speciality is folksong and her most recent publication can be found in the Yale Journal of Music and Religion. Jeanette has created various research-based cross-cultural community engagement choral projects which have garnered her invitations to talk at various universities and cultural institutions. As a vocal pedagogue, she focuses on vocal technique for choirs, vocal physiology, teacher-training, and the rehabilitation of damaged voices using vocal massage and other embodied vocal techniques.
