Das Gesamtwerk von Otto Muehl umfasst mehr als fünf Jahrzehnte des Schaffens, in denen ein überaus umfangreiches, vielfältiges und komplexes Œuvre entstanden ist. Durch die Zusammenfassung des gesamten Nachlasses des Künstlers im Estate Otto Muehl ist es erstmals möglich, in den Ausstellungsräumen der Sammlung Friedrichshof einen repräsentativen Querschnitt von Werken aller Schaffensperioden des Künstlers zu zeigen. Neben Dokumenten aus der frühen Zeit des Wiener Aktionismus, welche die bisherige Wahrnehmung und Interpretation des Werks Otto Muehls dominiert, zeigt der Katalog ausgewählte, exemplarische Arbeiten aus dem malerischen, zeichnerischen und filmischen Werk, das ab den frühen 1970er-Jahren entstanden ist. 10th volume in the series of Sammlung Friedrichshof exhibition catalogues
The complete works of Otto Muehl embrace more than five decades of creativity in which an extensive, highly diverse and complex oeuvre has emerged. Combining the entire artist estate in the Estate Otto Muehl has made it possible, for the first time ever, to showcase a representative cross-section of works from all chapters of the artist’s creative periods in the exhibition rooms of Sammlung Friedrichshof. In addition to documents from the early days of Viennese Actionism, which to date have dominated perceptions and interpretations of Otto Muehl’s works, the catalogue presents select examples of pictorial, graphic, and cinematic works created from the early 1970s on.
