With a charismatic and informed voice, Sidran illuminates scenes from his childhood in Chicago and gives an inside view of the recording industry, also revealing an awareness of the history of Jewish contributions to jazz.

Ben Sidran, author of Talking Jazz: An Oral History and Black Talk, lives in Madison, Wisconsin. His latest album Old Songs for the New Depression debued on July 2, 2002.
