"Gefesselter Blick", which means "captivated gaze" was a design journal published in Stuttgart in 1930; it became one of the most influential publications on the commercial art of its time. The brothers Heinz and Bodo Rasch invited 25 revolutionary designers, among them Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, El Lissitsky, Kurt Schwitters, Jan Tschichold and Piet Zwart, to contribute brief statements about, and examples of their own work. The result was a radical reversal of classic advertising design, through the use of photomontage, bold graphics and sanserif typography. This volume is a faithful copy of the original in every detail, including the thick transparent plastic cover and linen back and spine. The text is in the original German, with an introduction in English, a translation of the contributors' statements and a brief biography of each contributor.
