This catalogue is unprecedented among the catalogues dedicated
to the Cubist master: Picasso’s work is studied from a wholly new
perspective, aimed at casting light on the area of his output that
has in a certain way remained hidden, mysterious in terms of both
its genesis and its meaning. The curatorship of the exhibition and
the catalogue was entrusted to one of the foremost Picasso experts,
Carmen Giménez, who can vouch for its accuracy and scientific
soundness. In addition to Giménez’s contribution and the excellent
reproduction of all the works exhibited, the catalogue is enriched
with numerous photographs of Picasso at work in his studios, and
an essay by Francisco Calvo Serraller, an undisputed expert on
19th-20th-century Spanish art.
